(-3.5)Texans at Bills- I like the way Houston is playing right now. If Andre Johnson doesn't play, there are other weapons this team has in order to move the chains. Taking Houston

Browns at (-13.5)Bears- I don't have much insight to give on this game. The Browns are awful. Bears.

Rams at (-4)Lions- The Toilet Bowl game has arrived!!!! Whoever wins gets this lovely trophy, personalized by yours truly, The NFL Chick!
Photobucket
I'm picking the Lions in this one. The Rams look like they are going to give the 2008 Detroit team a run for their money

49ers at (-12.5)Colts- I have no idea why no one is talking about the Colts. The love fest with the Saints is warranted... but this Colts team scares me. I'm taking Indy because Manning is showing everyone why, when he finally retires, he'll be considered a legend.

Jaguars at (-3)Titans- The Titans are starting Vince Young today. Ehhh..... everyone knows I'm not a huge fan of VY, but whatever works to get a win. Good news is this. Titans, you should get a win this Sunday. I'm taking Tennessee FTW baby!

Raiders at (-16.5)Chargers- The Raiders are too bi-polar for my taste. San Diego is playing bad teams and beating them. I fully expect a win from them.

Panthers at (-10)Cardinals- Jake Delhomme plays like he wants to be banned from pro football, yet he still gets to start. Wow! The Countdown to Cowher begins in Charlotte. Taking Arizona

Sitcho Azz Down Awards- The Dummy Edition

Category: , , , ,

Okay, now you know I only give out this award when it's needed. This week's winner wasn't hard to pick at all. All I can say is, he's a huge idiot! This week's Sitcho Azz Down Award goes to none other than.....................................

You guessed it. Chiefs RB Larry Johnson
Photobucket

Mr Johnson has gotten himself in a bit of trouble lately. Apparently, he didn't get the memo that gay slurs is NOT hot in the streets, and has since learned the hard way that such words will result in some kind of disciplinary action.

According to the KC Star, after Sunday's loss to the Chargers, Johnson told a bunch of reporters that he wasn't talking until Thursday and to get their "F*ggot ass" out of there.

Johnson then went into a twitter tirade (his twitter name is @ToonIcon, which is a protected page), going hard at Chiefs head coach Todd Haley and said the following things via his timeline:

"My father got more creditentials than most of these pro coaches."

"My father played for the coach from "rememeber the titans". Our coach played golf. My father played for redskins briefley. Our coach. Nuthn."

Oh, but he wasn't done, just yet. He then proceeded to have a tweet war with a person via twitter, telling one person that they had a "f*g pic", among other things.

When I heard it was Larry Johnson behind all of this, I wasn't the least bit shocked. Did we forget about the 2 separate incidents in which he received probation for mushing a woman's head and spitting on another? I used to think he was fine as wine until those incidents happened. I never looked at him the same again.Although Johnson has since apologized for his comments, I think it's nothing more than a PR move and a poor attempt of not getting suspended.

First off, let's discuss the obvious. Johnson will be 30 in about 3 weeks. For a struggling running back, this could not have come at a worse time.
Photobucket
Running backs in the NFL aren't hot commodities, they're disposable. Just a couple of years ago, Johnson was THE player to have on your fantasy team. Now all of a sudden, dude has to fight of a fantasy spot, with a dismal 2.7 yards per carry 7 weeks into the 2009 season. Of all the years to create an issue, this isn't the year. Johnson is slower, doesn't look like he puts in 100% on the field, and on a bad team. All indications that we may have seen the last of him in a Chiefs uniform.

Secondly, I remember when people were calling Johnson the same names, for his alleged apartment sharing with music mogul Jay Z a few years back. Out of all the people, Johnson should know first hand how it feels to be called such names. I was always taught to treat people the way I want to be treated. How can you be comfortable with being so reckless in name calling, when you were on the other end of the spectrum not long ago?!
Photobucket

To be frank, Larry Johnson is a dumbass. He's ignorant, and lacks respect for others. Airing out frustrations due to a loss isn't how you deal with things. I'm not in the business of calling people names, but dude is a real douche bag. A suspension is definitely necessary and I'm glad the Chiefs are looking into the possibility of doing just that. Such actions shouldn't be tolerated.

NFL Week 7 Recap And Thoughts

Category: , ,

This was the Ravens bye week, and lemme tell you.... it's a great feeling to watch other games and not care who wins either way. For the first time in weeks, I haven't been nervous, anxious or had heartburn on a Sunday. No nail biting, no squirming, no face in my palms... nothing! Don't get me wrong, I loved the fact that I had no vested interest in none of the teams I watched on Sunday (well, except the Steelers and the Bengals, since we are in the same division). But I wouldn't trade in my anxiety and heartburn for anything. I love my squad and I'm glad they play the Broncos this Sunday. Okay, I'm more nervous than glad, but you get my point.

I don't know about you, but this weekend's games were pretty boring. With the exception of the Vikings/Steelers game and the Saints/Dolphins game, all of the other games were pretty much blah! I mean, it was blow city during Week 7 of the NFL season. But nonetheless, there are always things to talk about. This is the NFL!

-The Diva has arrived!! Michael Crabtree played in Sunday's game against the Texans, and had an impressive debut.
Photobucket
I think 5 receptions for 56 yards is pretty good, considering he averaged a first down per catch. It seems as though all of that overshadowed QB Shaun Hill's awful first half, in which Former #1 pick Alex Smith came in and played well in relief. Is Smith FINALLY gonna be the QB in San Fran? We shall see.

-The same teams that stunk last week, still stink. Shout out to the Browns, Rams, Titans, Bucs, Chiefs and Panthers for being consistent. You pretty much play bad every week. But there is always good news. There is no where to go but up. If you're a fan of any team I named, keep ya head up.

-Watching the Bears/Bengals game made me feel bad for the people in Chicago. I'm not a fan and I was humiliated for them. And I could sit here and make an excuse about, Cutler needs protection, he needs a true #1 WR, etc. But when do we start to see if the problem lies within CUTLER???? I'm just saying......

-Good for Cedric Benson. That game was huge for him, to go against his former team and play as well as he did (37 car, 189 yards).
Photobucket

-Laugh of the Day: Adrien Peterson running over Steelers DB William Gay like a steam roller. Check out my boy Ed The Sports Fan's site about the death of William Gay. Hilarious! After that play, I would've died too!

-Laugh of the Day #2- The Vikings player knocking down the ref during Percy Harvin's kickoff TD... I'm sorry but the way the refs have officiated this season, this one was a-coming.

-JaMarcus Russell is a bum. Point blank! Let's not lie to ourselves any longer.

-Funniest WTF moment of the day: Mark Sanchez eating a damn hot dog during the Jets shellacking of the Raiders, 38-0. It was so rude, yet so funny. What made it even funnier, was Sanchez calling himself, being discreet about it. Excuse me, but he must not have watched a lot of NFL Films, while at USC. The cameras catch just about EVERYTHING! Now, if this was the punter or a special team player, no one would have cared. But he's the franchise QB. C'mon Son!

-Mile Austin is a beast! But I do wonder, how long will his greatness last?! You have to know that defenses will start scheming for him in the coming weeks. And if there is a game that Austin struggles, then what?! Oh wait, Roy Williams is there. Oh, nevamind...............

- And the GOAT of the Week Award goes to.....*drumroll* The Miami Dolphins for laying a real big egg in their loss to New Orleans. How are you up 24-10 at the half and then play not to lose, against the Saints??! Then you allow New Orleans to score 22 unanswered points in the 4th qtr alone! See, this is why not many people like underdogs. They always seem to find a way to screw it up.

*extra point* Was anyone else happy for Ricky Williams?! Even with a loss, he played extremely well.

-With all of that said, New Orleans is VERY scary to watch.

-Watching the Redskins play is a sad sight to see. And I'm not even being funny here. They can't catch a break, it seems. Last night's game against Philly was no different. I thought they would stand up to all the backlash they received from the media and fans, and I was wrong.
Photobucket
Turnover after turnover and the loss of TE Chris Cooley ultimately led to an Eagles win, 27-17. The Redskins haven't scored more than 17 points in every game they played, and that includes games against awful winless teams. Who knows what it will take to turn this team around, but we won't find out the answer until the season is over.

-Did anyone see WR DeSean Jackson doing the "jerk" dance after his 2nd TD? Classic!

-Before the start of the 2009 season, I wrote a blog about why the AFC would continue to dominate the NFC. And I caught a lot of flack about it. But listen up people: The NFL Chick isn't the best at picking games, but she IS good about everything else football related. Let's face it, I am!. Listen to this fact. The Top 5 QBs in passing yards are all AFC QBs. The Top 5 in TD passes: All AFC QB's. The Top 5 in QB rating: 3 are AFC QB's. For WR's it's pretty much the same, 4 out of 5 WRs leading the league in receptions are AFC WRs. The player with the most yards from scrimmage: An AFC player (Ray Rice, Ravens). The last 3 undefeated teams standing, 2 are AFC teams. I'm sure you can make a great case about the NFC. And while I do believe the gap is closing fast thanks to the Saints and the Giants, the AFC still has the powerhouses. To be fair, the NFC is dominate on defense right now.. but hey, I got 2 out of 3 right. That should count for something.

This week, my partner-in-crime Pigskin Loving Lady is on vaca, enjoying herself, so unfortunately we have no video this week...

Photobucket

Awww, don't be sad, you'll see our pretty faces again, starting next week. Until then, here are this week's picks for Week 7:

(-8.5)Green Bay at Cleveland- Half of the Browns haven't practiced this week because they were sick with the flu. Not that practicing would change the outcome of this game or my opinion. I'm picking the Pack.

(-5)San Diego at Kansas City- San Diego's O line can't keep my boo Rivers upright and their defense is getting soft. Cromartie had to get an MRI on his knee, which means he is banged up. I'll take the Chiefs at home. Close your mouths, you read right *upset alert*

(-13.5)Indianapolis at St. Louis- Ummm...... do I have to answer this??!! You figure it out
Photobucket

Minnesota at (-5.5)Pittsburgh- I cannot pick against the Steelers at home. The Vikings get their first loss, this Sunday

(-15)New England at Tampa Bay- This is probably one of the worst games of the week. And to make matters worse, this game is being played in London, to try and help the NFL get a UK fan base. What an awful game to watch. And the way Belicheck runs up the score on poor opponents, the London fans will be bored out of their minds by the 2nd quarter because it will soon become a Brady Butt Kissing Love Affair. Pats is a blowout and a snoozer

San Francisco at (-3)Houston- This is a very intriguing game. The Texans offense is on a roll. And while I like the 49ers D against them, I just think Houston is playing very good ball right now right now. I'm gonna pick Houston.

Buffalo at (-7)Carolina- Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Moe....if he hollers let 'em go...... Carolina... Just cause the game told me to

(-6)NY Jets at Oakland- *upset alert* If Sanchez could play that awful against Buffalo's D, wait til he meets Asomugha. I'm going with DA RAAAAIIIDDDAAAAAHHHHSS!

Atlanta at (-4)Dallas- I want to pick Atlanta and I told my fellow blog buddy 12kyle I was picking them... but that was 2 days ago. And my instincts told me to change my choice to the Cowboys. For the record, I believe Atlanta is the better team. But it's hard to go against your gut.

Chicago at (-1)Cincinnati- Cincy loses 2 straight. I'm picking the Bears

(-6.5) New Orleans at Miami- Okay, am I the only one who wants to know why the line is so low for the Saints??? Did they not see what they did to a very good Giants team? And who's dumb enough to pick against the Saints, the way they are playing right now?! Even if they do lose for some crazy reason, I'm not gonna be able to do it!

Arizona at (-7)NY Giants- The Giants were embarrassed last week.. Eli wasn't his normal self. You know... the Eli that looks like he rides the short yellow bus. He was definitely a different player last week. But I expect him and the G-Men to get back to what they do best and win this game over the Cards.

(-7)Philly at Washington- I'm going out on a limb here. Right now, the Redskins have so much drama surrounded by Jim Zorn's play calling duties being taken from him, and the displeasure former management and fans have shown against Redskins owner Daniel Snyder. And you know what... I think their backs are up against a wall. I expect them to play well against Philly and win this game.
Photobucket
No I'm not high and no I don't smoke crack. This is a sober opinion that I think will happen. Redskins in an upset.

missed kick

Never in a million years did I think I would be saying this... the Ravens FINALLY get an offense and now their defense wants to tank???? With Ray Lewis and Ed Reed on the roster??? Something is horribly wrong with this picture. This team was finally supposed to be complete, and now the once proud defense is inept.. Ravens fans can't win for nothing. The bye week is coming and they better fix it if they want to even sniff the playoffs, or else.

-The Ravens-Vikings games was one of the most exciting and heartbreaking games I've yet to witness. More than the 2006 playoff loss to Indy (I'm JUST getting over that one). The Ravens fought so hard, coming from a 17 point deficit, and still came up short. Great game to watch if you have no interest or if you are a Vikings fan. But for a Ravens fan.. that one hurt bad.

*extra point* I'm gonna windmill Steve Hauschka when I see him :)

- The Saints are peaking... and looking more and more like the NFC representative for the Super Bowl, as I predicted. They beat the breaks off a great Giants team that has beat the breaks off of opponents themselves. Will they be in Miami come February, or are they peaking too soon??? Hmmmmmm

- G-Men... you'll bounce back. You're too good a team not to.

- Once again, the Redskins let a winless team get a win, as we all expected. I actually feel sorry for Redskins fans... no, this isn't a misprint. I do. I would be beyond fed up with mediocrity on and off the field. Dan Snyder needs to bring in a consultant to show him how to run an NFL franchise.. and I don't mean to the ground, either. It's pathetic and although I'm not a fan of the team, I am a fan of football. And even I am disgusted. This pic says it all:
Photobucket

- There really needs to be a "running up the score" rule. Explain to me why the Pats are up 45-0 at the half, yet Tom Brady trots right back onto the field at the beginning of the 3rd qtr??!! Is Belicheck serious?! What if Tennessee started to take shots at Brady and not care about the consequences??? Stupid, at best.

-There is a reason why Titans head coach Jeff Fisher isn't starting Vince Young. Even with Kerry Collins struggling at QB, Fisher continues to put him in. Word is, that Fisher deems Young as a quitter, especially after the shenanigans that happened at the beginning of the 2008 season. If that's true, then I totally respect Fisher's decision. I'd rather go down with the guys that go to battle with me than the ones that will wave the white flag, any day.

- Unless you are a fan of the Steelers, Browns, Lions, Packers, Rams, Jaguars, Bucs or Panthers, no one else cared about your game. Hey, I'm just saying........

- I got fussed at because I don't talk about the Eagles enough on my blog. Well, here it is: You let the RAIDERS beat you!!!! Better yet, you let JaMarcus Russell look like an NFL quarterback. Shame on you, Philly.. shame on you.

*extra point* Why is the pigeon going down the field with the Raiders the highlight of the game??? No seriously...........

-The Bills-Jets game was one of the hardest games for me to watch. I don't think I ever wanted to pull my eyelashes out, EVER. But I wanted to when CBS left the NE Massacre and went to this game. Remember that song you learned in school, "The Song That Doesn't End"... that game reminded me of that song... it just wouldn't stop.

- Am I the only one that thought Jay Cutler was gonna cry in the locker room at the end of the Bears- Falcons game??

- All the way around, the Denver Broncos are as complete of a team as any.
They have an offense that moves the chains, a defense that is fearless and a special teams that is nothing short of awesome. Is Eddie Royal the 2009 Josh Cribbs/Donte Hall/Devin Hester of special teams??? We will find out as the season goes on.

- I think Orton should do a collabo song with Shaq. The title??

Detroit at (-13.5)Green Bay- I actually expect Detroit to put up a fight but I can't pick against The Pack at home.... Go Pack Go!

Cleveland at (-14)Pittsburgh- Cleveland finally got a win and the Steelers lost a big run stopper in Aaron Smith.... But that won't change a damn thing in this game... Steelers

(-3)Carolina at Tampa Bay- Does anyone outside Charlotte and Tampa Care about this game?? Since I have to choose.. I'm gonna throw a bone at Tampa. Maybe this is the week they finally get a win. Carolina just got first win last week... time for the Panthers to spread the 1 win love around.

Kansas City at (-6.5)Washington- Since the Redskins love to give winless teams their first win, and KC actually comes to play ta times... why not go ahead and pick the Chiefs? Yup... picking the Chiefs.

St. Louis at (-9.5)Jacksonville- Another "who cares" game that no one will see because the game will be blacked out in both cities. Since I have to choose, I'll go with Jacksonville.

Arizona at (-3)Seattle- Both of these teams are hot and cold... never warm. I'll go with the Seahawks at home

(-14)Philadelphia at Oakland- Anytime you have an opposing player say he felt like he was playing a scrimmage, you know it's bad. Iggles.

Buffalo at (-9.5)NY Jets- Bills, I have lost some hope in you, even with T.O. You look defeated. The Jets are angry about that loss, so you'll be the one they take it out on.

A Must See- "The Band That Wouldn't Die"

5

Category: , , , ,

Last night, I had the opportunity of watching ESPN's 30 for 30 presentation, The Band That Wouldn't Die. It was the story of the Baltimore Colts Marching Band, who continued to play during the 12 year drought when the city was without a football team.

The film was directed by Barry Levinson (a Baltimore native and Baltimore Colts fan). Levinson does an excellent job of taking you through the history of the Baltimore Colts and their Marching Band. He goes in great detail on how the events between Colts owner Bob Irsay and the city of Baltimore led up to March 29, 1984, when Irsay left in the middle of the night and moved the team to Indianapolis.

When Irsay and the team moved, the marching band lived on, continuing to play for NFL halftime shows (one year they played for the Cleveland Browns, ironically), the Pro Football Hall of Fame and a host of other events. While the city was heartbroken about the loss of the team, the only thing that fans had to hold on to were their beloved marching band.

In addition to the story of the band, Levinson gives the public an undertone of what Baltimore went through during their 12 year absence of having an NFL team. The film shows former commissioner Paul Tagliabue giving an expansion team to Jacksonville and the city's short tenure of having a CFL team, things that further widened the void of the city's love for NFL football. The film does a great job of pointing out how much this blue collared city is such a football town, that they have an NFL championship, Super Bowl victory, USFL championship and CFL championship, the only city to accomplish such.

The film finally gets a happy moment, when the Baltimore Ravens come to town. During a talk show with former NAACP President Kweisi Mfume, Colts Marching Band president John Ziemann offers to then-Ravens president David Modell to play for the new team and to officially change their name to the Baltimore Ravens Marching Band.
Photobucket

While the Modell family were elated of such a transition, they wanted the band to continue to play as the Baltimore Colts Marching Band during the team's final years at the old Memorial Stadium,. To see the former Colts such as Johnny Unitas, Lenny Moore, Jim Parker and Art Donovan accept the team was one of the highlights of the film. The transition was complete.

Watching this documentary put me through so many emotions. As a Baltimore native, I was too young to remember the Colts moving, but my father, uncle and grandfather always made sure I knew my Baltimore Colts history. To watch the events leading up to the move was heartbreaking to watch, even today. I became angry when the film showed how the city was snubbed of getting an expansion team (I can still remember the former commissioner telling the city to use their money for "a new museum"), and finally felt joyful for having a team to cheer for in the Baltimore Ravens, who I love dearly.

With everything negative that Baltimore is known for, yesterday's documentary made me extremely proud to be from a city with such a rich football history. Even if you aren't from Charm City, I suggest you watch this film when it re airs. It's a must see for any fan that loves football. Barry Levinson really outdid himself on this one.

NFL Week 5 Recap And Thoughts

Category: , , , , , ,

Last night's Jets-Dolphin game was great, from start to finish. It reminded me so much of the 2000 game Monday Night Game, in which the Jets came back to beat the Dolphins in OT. While the game didn't play out the same way, it was great nonetheless. From Braylon Edwards making a spectacular debut to QB Chad Henne helping his team win the game, 31-27, with 6 seconds left.

Photobucket

The Monday Night Football crew was in love Jets QB Mark Sanchez. So much, to the fact that they pretty much ignored Henne and his heroics. Let's take a look at the two QB's numbers from last night:

Sanchez: 12/24 172 yards 1 TD 0 INT 87.5 QB rating

Henne: 20/26 241 yards 2 TDs 0 INTs 130.4 QB rating

It wasn't until the end of the night that Henne was shown some love. I know that New York teams are on a roll right now (Giants are 5-0 and the Yankees are in the ALCS), but ESPN and other media outlets need to do a better job at showing love to those that deserve it. Not saying Sanchez didn't, because he played well. But last night, Henne was better

-Even though my Ravens lost, I can't be mad at the fact that the Bengals played well, especially their defense. With the passing of Mike Zimmer's wife, I really felt the team played extra hard for him.
Photobucket
I've always had a soft spot for the Bengals, mainly because of Marvin Lewis and Chad Ocho Cinco. Congrats on sole place of the AFC North........ for now

*extra point* I found this on KSK... and I can't stop watching it. Regardless of your opinion on the hit, how can you NOT love football?! This made my adrenaline rise to the max!
Photobucket

-The Colts, Giants and Vikings scare me

-The Bucs, Raiders and Rams do not

-The Redskins play yet another winless team this Sunday, when they play the Kansas City Chiefs. Since they've been so nice to give Detroit and Carolina their first win, will Redskins be so nice against a Chiefs team that actually puts up a fight???? We'll find out Sunday.

-I think I'm ready to start giving Denver the props they deserve. No one should go 5-0 without getting respect, especially with the hectic offseason the Broncos had. Josh McDaniel was so fired up at the end of his game, he had ME fired up and I'm not a Broncos fan. Congrats Denver!
Photobucket

-I'm not a big Vince Young fan... quite frankly I always though he was slightly overrated. But I think it's time for his 2nd chance. The Titans stink and Kerry Collins is starting to look his age

-Did anyone see Brandon Marshall on Football Night in America???? If there was ever a "Bama Of The Week" candidate, he is definitely it!

-Damn Buffalo.... you lost to the lowly Browns in an awful 6-3 defeat. Not even T.O. can help you with this madness. Looks like paper bag time has officially made it's way to Buffalo

Ravens Purple Evening A Success

2

Category: , , ,

Last night I attended the Ravens 3rd Annual Purple Evening at M&T Bank Stadium, and I must say, it was a great event to attend.

Each year the Ravens have the womens only event for members of the Purple Club. The Purple Club was created just for the female football fan. With the membership comes emails to exclusive events, discounted merchandise and entries for prizes.

The Purple Evening has evolved so much. The event used to be called "Football 101", designed to give women assistance on learning the game. During the event, members also met with Ravens players, toured the locker room and were able to do interactive actitivies on the field.

Female fans got to enjoy such luxuries as massages, facial info and even the new popular trend, minx nails (with Ravens logos, of course). Specialty drinks such as the Ravens margaritas were available, as well as other admenities.

If you didn't get to the Autograph Station early, chances are you didn't get one. While the Ravens had players such as Ray Rice, Haruki Nakamura, Michael Oher, Chriss Carr and Colts great Lenny Moore come out to sign autographs, the wait to get them were so long, they were wrapped around the stadium.

Every NFL team should have such an event. Women watching and loving football is on the rise in a major way, and this is a great opportunity to show appreciation to those that can supported. While the numbers haven't come in yet, it is believed that the attendence nearly doubled from last year's event. Special thanks to Heather Blocher of the Baltimore Ravens for allowing me to come and take part of this event.

Ladies, if your favorite NFL team has an event like this, please go and check it out. Trust me, it's definitely worth it.

The NFL Chick's Friday Picks- Week 5 and Video

Category: , ,

I don't know about you, but when I looked at the schedule for this week, one thing came to my mind: Wow, this football weekend really blows. I only saw about 4 good games to watch. All the over ones scream "boring" on paper. But this is the NFL, so I'm sure a few of these games will turn out really good. Here are my picks for this weekend's games.

Video courtesy of GridironGals:

Browns at (-6) Bills- I would have picked the Browns had they not traded Braylon Edwards away... But oh well.... Buffalo is a go today

(-10.5)Steelers at Lions- No this isn't a joke, this is a real game. Steelers in a blowout

(-8.5)Cowboys at Chiefs- I want to pick the Chiefs so bad. I really do. But I have no hope in them at all. This one is going to the 'Boys

(-10)Vikings at Rams- Again, not a joke. This is almost unfair, man... poor Rams fans will watch yet another team slap them around for 60 mins. Vikings for blowout #2

Raiders at (-14.5)Giants- If Manning doesn't play.... nothing changes. The GMen are still gonna whup on Oakland, sorry *shrugs*

Redskins at (-3.5)Panthers- Redskins can't put away bad teams. I'm going with Carolina because they are better than the Rams and Bucs, 2 teams who came close to beating Washington.

Texans at (-5.5)Cardinals- Arizona. No reason, just cause

(-3.5)Colts and Titans- Who would've thought the Titans would be 0-5 thru Week 5. Yep. Manning is unstoppable right now. I'm picking them until they lose, sorry.

New York Jets Has Some Serious Man Candy!!!!!!

12

Category: , , , , , , ,

Sorry fellas, this one is NOT for you today! LOL

As most of you know/heard, the Cleveland Browns traded WR Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets today. While the addition of Edwards to a 3-1 football team could mean much success down the road, I could care less about that right now. What I DO know, is that the Edwards trade adds one more piece of man candy on the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS!

I think most of us can agree that the Jets are now the FINEST team in America. They have some of the hottest looking men suited up in gang green. What's even better is all of the fine ones are starters. Looks like I'll be cheering them on when my Ravens don't play. Jesus be a fence... I need my Martin Luther King, Jr. church fan to calm me down. These guys are F-I-N-E FINE FINE FINE!!!! Let's take a look at them:

WR Braylon Edwards. Glory Bee.......

Photobucket Photobucket

DB Kerry Rhodes. The sexiest player on the team in my eyes!

QB Mark Sanchez. Muy Caliente!

RB Thomas Jones. Oh, So Fine (and taken, ladies!)

It's time! Yes, there are so many people that need to sit their azz down, and it's time to call them out. I'm so sick of man-divas and I'm calling you out today!

Michael Crabtree
Photobucket

After months of holding out, complaining and looking to be paid higher than the 10th overall pick, Crabtree finally decides to sign with the 49ers. Excuse me if I could care less. Sounds to me like a perfect case of "They're gonna need me more than I need them" gone wrong. You see, Crabtree probably assumed that the 49ers really needed them and that they weren't gonna be a decent squad (if Shaun Hill was your QB, I'd assume you would have thought the same). But the 49ers are 3-1 and are one play away from being 4-0. Shaun Hill is playing well and they look just fine without his services, please and thank you.

So now the pressure is on. Crabtree doesn't have a contract and he's missing out on doing what he loves to do, which is play football. And because the 49ers are playing well, they don't need to hound him about signing a contract. So he and his agent buckle down and get a deal done.

Now Crabtree has missed all offseason activities and training camp all in the name of greed. At blog time (similar to press time, LOL) , the contract details weren't released, but I'm guessing not much was changed from the initial contract offered to him.

Crabtree is a diva who had a serious reality check. I hope he plays well in the NFL, because if not this dude can easily be the laughing stock of the league if he doesn't produce on the field. I hope Mike Singletary makes him pay for every day he's missed so far. Gotta love the guy, NOT! Go sitcho spoiled azz down!

Tom Brady
Photobucket
During the Ravens-Pats game on Sunday, Ravens TB Terrell Suggs fell down and barely brushed the leg of Tom Brady. So what does Brady do??? Point to the ref and lobby for a flag.

Now, this is when it gets ugly. Brady starts clapping, pointing and borderline taunting Suggs for getting the penalty. It was truly classless on his part. I've been told a million times, don't be mad at Brady, be mad at the refs for listening to Brady, he's just doing what most would. Bull Hockey! Cause I don't remember Peyton Manning looking for flags for such foolishness. I also don't remember Manning making Suzy Kolber run him down and do an interview while out of breath.

This whole "roughing the Brady" penalty could backfire on the league. Defenses will start to actually try and harm these QBs if they know they are gonna be flagged/fined for it. They'll make the personal foul official, and start to purposely try and take these players out of it becomes too ticky tacky if they don't step in and make some changes.

On Sunday, Rodney Harrison went on Football Night In America and told Brady to "take off the skirt and put on some slacks". While Harrison claims that he was speaking in jest, I think he couldn't have said it better. Brady may as well put on his wife's 4 inch heels and change his last name to Mr. Bundchen. Brady sitcho wussy azz down!

Memo to the players of the NFL: Being a diva is a female trait. If being is diva is what you are about, then you can borrow my earrings, makeup and nail polish. We can even go shopping for shoes if you like. But don't play in the NFL. I prefer to watch men play. Go sitchoazz down!

NFL Week 4 Recap And Thoughts

Let me get this out of the way:

The bitchassness spreading through the NFL is irritating.
Photobucket
The officiating during the Ravens-Pats game was awful. Tom Brady looked like a pimp and the referees were his , rhymes with "witches". To have a ref throw a flag because a person asks for it, is ridiculous. To laugh, clap, and taunt and NOT get an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty is even more ridiculous. What's worse, is when you don't know how to handle certain penalties (such as the illegal formation in the 4th qtr) and it takes 10 mins to discuss and STILL not get it right. The NFL needs to fix this. It's absurd and pathetic. Get it right, at the very least make these refs full time employees and make sure that these mistakes don't happen week in and week out. You owe that much to the people that pay their hard earned dollars to see their favorite players and teams play.

***RELAX, RELATE, RELEASE***

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

Now, where was I? Oh...... highlights of this weekend's games.

-Ravens-Pats game, one of the best games of the weekend, hands down. If you missed it, it should be on NFL Replay sometime this week. A real nail biter. Minus the poor, poor calls on both sides, that had a playoff feel to it. I wonder if these two teams will meet again, only in January. If that's the way it's gonna be, then that is definitely something to look forward to.

*bonus* Read my blog about Mark Clayton's non catch. My heart is still broken. But only until Sunday. New week, new game, new concerns

-The Lions looked like the Lions we all know and love yesterday. Thanks Jay Cutler, for the reminder of how bad they can be. Photobucket

-How does Cincy beat the Steelers in a thriller the week before, only to being 4 secs away from having a tie with the Browns?
Photobucket
And why do the Browns always come to play when it's their home state opponent? And I'm supposed to take you seriously? Where they do that at???

- The Cowboys are in trouble, trouble! Everyone who loves the "star" is livid that Miles Austin seemed to be open in the end zone twice during the final drive of the Cowboys-Broncos game. To make matters worse, you keep throwing the ball towards Champ Bailey. CHAMP BAILEY!! Looks like Romo is back. That dude last week was an impostor.

- I said this last week, and I'm gonna say it again. I REALLY want Peyton Manning to sit his azz down. He scares me. Like, really....

-I mean no harm whatsoever by saying this but.. the New York Giants schedule through Week 5 has to be the best schedule, hands down. Their first 5 opponents have a combined record of 5-15, including 2 winless teams. It's a completely random thought and I have no underlying point. I'm just saying........ 5-0 isn't far fetched at all.

- Josh Johnson reminds me so much of Michael Vick. Without the magic and unbelievable moments of course.

- The Cowboys and Redskins are both 2-2. I point that out because I live in the DC, MD and VA area, where Cowboys and Redskins fans are like the Hatfields and McCoys. So I ask of the fans in the DMV. Please be quiet this week. You both have the same record, and neither are of the winning capacity. The Skins lost to the Lions but Romo is a crap shoot. Let the rants go this week, it's a complete wash

*bonus* Cowboys fans, please throw Roy Williams back in the swamp where you found him. He can't carry T.O.'s jock strap.

-Hello, David Gararrd! Goodbye, Kerry Collins, thanks for playing.
Photobucket

-I predicted on my video blog last week that the Jets would get a dose of reality this weekend. And they did. I still want to give praise to Rex Ryan, I think he's done a great job. But let's not kid ourselves. Sanchez is very much so a rookie. A very good one... but a rookie nonetheless.

- The Broncos defense took a total 180 from last year. They look great. Looks like I need to start keeping a side eye on them.

- Buffalo, blah! And that is awful to say to a team with Terrell Owens on their squad.

-I'm over this Favrepalooza type drama that is mustering up today. If you ask me my opinion about tonight's matchup with the Packers and the Vikings, my reatcion would be like so.

That is all

The Iron Man Visits The Castle!

Category: , , , , , ,

If you're from Baltimore, you know that "The Iron Man" is Orioles great, Cal Ripken, Jr. And you also know "The Castle" is the nickname for the Ravens complex in Owings Mills, MD. Ripken had a sit down lunch with Ravens Minority Owner Art Modell. While it's unclear why Cal was there, my guess is, because he's a MD boy and loves the Ravens just like other Bawlmorians.

What I REALLY hope, is that Cal is picking Modell's brain and reporting all of his newfound knowledge back to Orioles owner Peter Angelos. Lord knows, the O's need a spark of any kind. Hopefully Cal has the key.
