As we approach the end of March and the end of Women's History Month, I can't let the last day go by without shouting out the lovely ladies in the sports world. Last year, I created a similar blog post with some of America's most talented and beautiful ladies in sports broadcasting (if you didn't check out the original post, you can do so by clicking here).
As a woman who loves sports and once dreamed about being a sportscaster herself, I felt the need to dedicate this post, once again, to the women who make me proud of being a lady who loves sports. Whether they sit behind the sports desk, run up and down the sidelines or give the hottest interviews, these ladies are class acts at their craft, all which are gorgeous in the process. I'm sure I'll have zero complaints from the male readers. Enjoy!
Lisa Salters
This Pennsylvania native and Penn State grad is more than just a pretty face, she's was also once a collegiate athlete. The former women's basketball player was a Baltimore newscaster before getting her big break with ESPN in 2000. Salters covered sports-related news for Outside The Lines, SportsCenter and ESPNEWS before becoming one of the featured correspondents for ESPN's hit magazine series, "E:60", which earned her a Gracie Award from the Association for Women in Radio and Television.
I'm slightly biased to Salters because I remember her during her tenure in Baltimore. Salters is a great talent with a beautiful smile. Her personality becomes alive when interviewing some of sports' greatest players. She one of my favorite sports media figures to date, outside Reischea Candidate. Salters is awesome at her work and for that, I honor her.
Stephanie Ready
If you don't know by now, Stephanie Ready is hot! A Maryland native and Coppin State grad, Ready made history when she became one of the first females to professionally coach a men's basketball team. A standout athlete in her own right (Ready played volleyball and basketball in college), she always looked at herself as a coach. She was an assistant coach for the National Basketball Developmental League's Greenville Groove.
Ready has done sideline reporting for The NBA on TNT, the NBA Playoffs as well as the WNBA Playoffs. She is the Charlotte Bobcats sideline reporter but has recently done work for ESPN. I'll admit, I'm showing some B-More bias to Ms. Ready. But why wouldn't I, she's great at what she does. Keep doing your thing, Stephanie!
Charissa Thompson
This blonde bombshell from Seattle is making her mark in the sports broadcasting world. The UC Santa Barbara grad covered the Colorado Rockies before doing more exclusive work, such as an NFL sideline reporter for Fox and handling college football and basketball games for the Big Ten Network and Fox Sports Net.
She reminds me of Erin Andrews, but with more fire in her eyes. Guys sure seem to love her, too. Someone over at heavy.com made a song especially for her. Check it out:
Adriana Monsalve
Last but certainly not least, we have Ariana Monsalve. This beauty from Venezuela didn't make her mark as a sportscaster right away . Monsalve had other talents: she could sing. She was the lead singer of the girl group "Chikas" and later joined in 2 other bands, prior to her broadcasting career. Monsalve participated in other entertainment gigs before accepting a sports anchor position in Orlando in 2005.
In 2007 she took the huge leap to mainstream, becoming a fixture of ESPN Deportes, broadcasting SportsCenter for the Hispanic viewers. Personally I think Monsalve is muy caliente'! I can see why ESPN Deportes wanted her there, the ratings probably went through the roof!
I admire each and every women posted. They are living the dream that many women, myself included, would love to. These beautiful ladies prove that even good looking chicks dig sports. The NFL Chick appreciates you!
Lawd have mercy, I love me some Lisa Salters. She's taken over as my number one sportscasting dream girl from Pam Oliver.
Stephanie Ready is ready! Her credentials make it all the more better. It's one thing to be a pretty face, but to be knowledgeable and command respect is even better. I dig this post on so many levels.
awesome
never heard of Ready, but a good name for show biz & such
I always liked Lisa, she is a pro's pro
