The NFL Chick's Fave Five Football Player To Watch- #2

Category: , ,

Sorry about yesterday's interruption with the list. The NFL Chick had to pay homage to the great John Madden. But we're back with the #2 guy on my Fave Five Football Players list.

So far we've covered the bases on defense, QB and RB for my fave five. But #2 may be a player who still doesn't really get a lot of play because of the Prima Donnas that tend to overdue it at his position. Still, he's a beast and I'd love to have him on my team.

#2- Steve Smith, WR Carolina Panthers

I know folks think he would be better suited on a Top 10 list instead of #2 on a Fave Five.. But this is my list... read it and weep! Okay, just kidding. But Steve Smith is sooo refreshing and fun to watch. He's so little in size (5'9")but he plays BIG every week. His heart is as big as his body and he proves that every time he's on the football field.

Smith came out of Utah to do kickoff and punt return duties. But since then he has emerged as one of the best WRs in the game right now. Smith was 3rd in the league in receiving last season , with 1421 yards. His 101.5 avg yards per game was best in the league. And although his TD numbers weren't high (6 TDs), he's still a guy that you have to account for. Defenses have tried to double and triple team this guy.... And have failed miserably in the process.

In addition to his dominance on the field, the best thing I like about Smith is his celebrations. I know the NFL really frowns on players and celebrations. And to a point, I understand. T.O. standing on the Dallas star.... Joe Horn pulling out a cell phone... they can be pretty classless. But I always liked Smith's antics, because it never seemed like he was trying to show anybody up. It just seemed like he's a guy that loves the game and loves to have fun. I can't be mad at that at all. My favorite moment, well....there are two actually. One was the burping of the baby, aka the football, the other when he was rowing in the end zone.

I guess the only bad thing one could say about Smith is, he has a temper. Remember when he was suspended for 2 games during 2008 season for fighting CB Ken Lucas??? The good thing is, he admitted he was wrong and apologized and attempted to move on. He's a hot head. But he's also human. Kudos to him for acknowledging his pig headedness (is that a word? LOL)

Steve Smith is one of he best WRs hands down. And a pretty entertaining one, at that.

My #1 player in the Fave Five List Will Be On Monday! Come Back And See Who It Is............

They don't call it the No Fun League for nothin! LOL

I've always liked Steve Smith, but I've never been much for his temper. In a way, though, it shows how intense a competitor he is, but he just needs to control it better.

Can't wait to see who #1 is, though I have a couple guesses...

mindpinball... oh I'm sure you already know who :) His temper sucks., but he plays hard every week, I love it

that row the boat celebration is tied for my favroite with Chad's riverdance, LOL.
