John Madden has officially retired from broadcasting!!!!!

Now, I know some of you are sooo happy he's retiring for a number of reasons, mainly because you no longer have to hear the Brett Favre love fest that John Madden has going on. You probably are praising the football gods for blessing you with such Good News

But there are some that will be sad about his departure. You might find some old school Raiders fan out there, at his job right now, sobbing at his desk...silently weeping.. Because he knows the "commitment to excellence" has been gone since Madden left the organization decades ago.

It's okay old school Raiders fan... shed a tear... we understand...

Personally, I'll miss Madden.. I'll miss him drawing circles on players that moved out of that spot 3 seconds ago. Or when he brings up the "Turducken" conversation during the holiday season... Or talk about how great Brett Favre was/is (yeah I know I already mentioned him. But if Madden can be redundant, then dammit, so can I!). Who's gonna hold Al Michaels down in the booth now??? I feel the same way I felt when Whitney and Bobby broke up. The broadcasting booth will never be the same again.

Thank you John Madden, for your presence in the world of football and all of the memories. But most of all, thank you for creating that wonderful game you have. Thank you for giving me the power to shut my house down if I ever took that game away. So long Madden...... whether you were loved or hated, you will be missed........

I won't miss the Brett Favre love-fest, but I will miss him in the way that when he was calling a game, you knew it was an event. Even the Sunday night games had a little extra something because Madden was on the call. Sure, he wasn't as great as he once was, but you knew the game meant something because he was there.

I look at anyone with the side eye that claims to be a football fan and doesn't like Madden. He's the color guy & no one was more colorful in the booth. Yeah, he was late with the telestator . . . so are 90% of the others out there.

I don't even know who's second place in regards to color commentary in the booth. They don't even stand out. They aren't even worth mentioning. lol

I'm glad he was able to leave on top doing a Super Bowl that might go down as the best ever.

p.s. Although I'm not a Favre fan, did he say anything that wasn't true about Bret? lol

8thlight, LOL although I was poking fun at Madden, I love the guy. He is one of the best IMO. I don't know who can beat him in that aspect. People love Madden, and they listen to what he has to say too. He'll be missed

mindpinball, WHAT! You won't mess thee Favre Fest? LOL I LOVE Favre and even I was a little over it after a while

@the NFL Chick:

No I won't miss it at all. I mean, he was good, very very good but at a certain point it got to be too much.

I am pretty sure Brett Favre convinced John Madden to retire and run away with him to the mountains to go on many a "fishing trip."
