With the city of Los Angeles continuing to make a big push into bring an NFL team back to LA, one has to wonder how this is possible. Creating an expansion team for the country's #2 market doesn't seem like a viable option. The current NFL set up is as good as it gets. Evenly spread divisions and a good playoff set up. So what's the best way to bring football back to the City of Angels?? Relocation.
With the option of relocation comes the question of, what franchise would be willing to relocate?? Some have mentioned the Buffalo Bills, but I think they would move to Toronto before they move to LA. Others would say the New Orleans Saints. But owner Tom Benson seems to be content with using the team to help rebuild the city after Hurricane Katrina.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are the best team to move right now. They have a certain issues that, in my opinion, could change once they get into a large market like LA.
While owner Wayne Weaver has put a pretty decent product on the football field, fans haven't responded to the organization as expected. Let's take a look at reasons why the Jags never really took off:
While owner Wayne Weaver has put a pretty decent product on the football field, fans haven't responded to the organization as expected. Let's take a look at reasons why the Jags never really took off:
The Jags have suffered with this problem for some time now. Despite having some success since they arrived in the league in 1995, fans haven't really been eager to sell out the stadium. The Jaguars blacked out 12 of 16 home games in 2003 and 2004 before covering up seats to reduce stadium capacity and lower ticket sales requirements. In 2007, their home game against Atlanta was also blacked out, and they were playoff contenders that year.
Fast Forward to 2009, and the Jags are facing yet another blackout dilemma. Both of this year's home preseason games will be blacked out, due to low ticket sales. Not only will they not see a live broadcast, they won't see a delayed broadcast either. While we all know that preseason games mean nothing , they usually are no different than regular season tickets. Anything NFL stamped has a tendency to sell out- except if you are the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags have tried to come up with everything possible to get fans to purchase tickets, including adding a 12 month payment plan for season tickets. Nothing seems to work.
2. J'Ville Loves College Football More
If you know like I know, Jacksonville is Gator Country. While the Jags can't sell out their games, the Florida Gators sure don't have that problem. The Florida-Georgia game is one of the hottest tickets in town, and is a hard ticket to get a hold of.
Let's be honest here... Jacksonville is a college football town. Their stadium, Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, was the old Gator Bowl. And while most teams have corporate names like FedEx Field and M&T Bank Stadium, they don't have that same luxury, which means less money for the Jags organization for stadium upgrades and potential salaries (They were previously name Alltel Stadium, after the cell phone company, but hasn't had a corporate sponsor since).
3. No New Stadium In Site
As previously stated, the Jags don't sell out tickets and have played in the old Gator Bowl since their existence.
Why create a new stadium if fans won't come out to support it?? When the Super Bowl came in 2005, the stadium had over $45 million dollars worth of upgrading done to accommodate the big event. But such upgrades have still not been enough for Jags fans to come to the stadium.
Not to say that I don't understand why you would build a new stadium for the Jags. Fan support is the biggest reason why new stadiums are created. Why spend tons of money on a site that will receive little support?
Which leads us to LA. LA is looking to bring in an NFL team within the near future, creating plans for a possible site to build an NFL stadium and other measures. Something that the Jags ownership could surely be interested in. Box suites are the real money makers in football stadiums. If LA can produce tons of suites (which they will. This IS LA we're talking about), that means
for Weaver and the organization.
Even though this is a recession, it's not impossible to expect tons of corporate sponsors for a new stadium in Los Angeles, bringing in more revenue to help the team with their transition.
And while one can say that USC runs the city, you can never go wrong with putting an NFL team in one of the largest markets in the country. It will get the support it needs if ran properly and puts a winning product on the field.
The Jaguars are a slowly sinking sinking ship in Jacksonville. Hopefully Weaver can come up with a way to make it work. If not.. Los Angeles would welcome him with open arms.

no.
You wanna move the Jags? Fine. they shouldnta been there anyway.
But not LA.
Everyone wants a team in LA BUT the ppl who live there.
If you just HAVE to have a team in LA..move the Chargers.
You need a home for the Jags? Send them to San Antonio. They are STILL waiting for the Saints to come back.
Jus what the NFL needs, another celebrity sport show in LA...Thats all it will be,the stadium will have Jack Nicholson,Denzel Washington & Snoop Dogg pic all over the place....."Hollywood Jags" will b the name...lol
inkognegro and anon, not disagreeing with you. But the NFL wants a team in LA whether we see fit or not. They're a huge market so the possibility for more revenue is always gonna look tempting.
The NFL is a business, more so than a sport for fans. So with that LA is the best place to have a team.
I do agree that folks that live there aren't interested. But just like NY, there are a lot of non locals there who moved for whatever reason. They'd love to have the leisure of seeing a game as opposed to driving to SD or going to SF/Oak
Interesting article. I could actually see this happening.
This maybe a logical move for both organizations but I like the Jags in the AFC North. Their rivalry with the Steelers and fights with the Colts wouldn't be the same if they repped LA. ugh...LA doesn't need a team anyhow. Too much tempation for these bonehead players.
LA is about the only place you can move them, unless you want to take a chance at San Antonio, because about the only city left big enough to support an NFL team!!!
I agree wholeheartedly with this post. What people seem to be missing is that Los Angeles is the number 2 TV market in the country. It's killing the NFL that they don't have a team there. The NFL would take a team and place them in L.A. in a heartbeat if they thought they could get away with it.
The Gator Bowl was completely renovated, re-named and rebuilt in 1995. The stadium is not an issue. But the perceived lack of support, no sponsor for the aforementioned stadium, and the fact that it's one of the smallest markets in the league make it ripe for picking.
This author is not completely accurate with her information. As one other person commented, the stadium is not the old Gator Bowl - the vast majority was completely rebuilt.
Premium seats, not attendance, is the problem. It is perceived attendance - a stadium that is bigger than the market can support.
The Jaguars had higher attendance last year than at least ELEVEN NFL teams:
Cowboys
Steelers
Bengals
Bucs
Cards
Falcons
Vikes
Bears
Rams
Raiders
Lions
They also had virtually the same attendance as the Colts and Dolphins, give or take a few hundred people.
the only reason the jaguars have higher numbers than 99% of cities you listed is because they have smaller stadiums and they are filled to the gills (they have no trouble selling tickets like jacksonville is). jacksonville can't fill their stadium even after wrapping up tens of thousands of seats with tarp.
ok i have a HUGE problem with this article saying jville likes college football way better and all that bs. the fla/ga game is once a year! and people come from gainesville and georgia plus those who live in jax. that is three different places fans are coming from. and the t.v. ratings for jaguar football is waaaaaaay better than the t.v. ratings are for college football in the city of jax. get ur facts straight before you decide to write an article about how bad jacksonville is for a pro football town.
and with all those seats covered the stadium is still bigger than 11 other stadiums and they sold more tix than 11 other teams. so L.A. needs to go fishing in a different pond.
No, many of the stadiums I listed had less than 100% capacity.
The problem with the Jags, as any smart observer will tell you, is not attendance, but premium seats and merchandising.
There's a rumor going around in some high finance circles that it will be the Bills moving to L.A. They'll move to the NFC West, the Seahawks will go back to the AFC West, Kansas City will move to the AFC South and Indy returns to the AFC East. The L.A. team will play in a huge, ultra posh, new stadium that surpasses Jerry Jones' behemoth in Texas.
For a number of reasons there won't be a team in Toronto. An NFL team there would probably kill the CFL and there's no public funding for a stadium. Ralph Wilson is going to sell the Bills and, from what I hear, the money being talked about in SoCal is staggering. He could probably get 5-6 times more from L.A. interests than from locals to keep the team in Western New York. No one in the Wilson family wants the team. The Bills RIGHT NOW are in play.
Now I heard this in a conversation at an LAX bar with some banker guy and the Jags did come up in our talk but he seemed certain about a few things. One was that the money people want to build a palace of a stadium, two is that they insist on an NFC West team, three is that the Seahawks will go back to the AFC West and four is that it's almost certainly going to be the Bills that move.
Of course you can hear all sorts of things at airport bars....
Us Jaguar fans care about our team. Dont believe everything you hear on ESPN
http://www.guysgirl.com/blog/sports/give-the-jacksonville-jaguars-a-chance.html
LA will support a team IF and it's a big If they are a contender. They support USC because year after year they‘re playing for the BCS title. But people came out for the Raiders averaged over 78,000 per game which more than the Raiders get in Oakland now and the NFL didn’t think that was good enough.
The Dodger attendance was over 3 million this season the largest in MLB. But you better put a winning team on the field. With 18 million in the LA television market in 5 counties they need two teams.
The Jaguars is a long term investment. Give it more time. The chilidren who lives in the area have and are following their home team. Deeper roots are being formed, and as time passes generation unknown will create the foundation needed to form a stable market thats good for the NFL and Jacksonville. Stay the course. LA is a BIG market with no real identity. They had a team, only to move to Saint Louis. It will be just a matter of time with the Jaguars, if they move down there.
I really think now that it is a done deal , the stadium will be built. They took out adds in the L.A. papers today for a job fair in January, over 16,000 jobs for this stadium and what goes with it. I really think now at least two teams will be bidding against each other. Wayne weavers team will almost double in value if they came to LA. hE could either sell now, or later. Someone will come, money talks.......the rest walks
i also think it is a done deal arnold signed legislation that they are exempt from the problem with enviromental laws
Also why have a team in JX the city is not large enough to have a football team it is almost like people dont care much about the team. If they have to cover seats and black games out they are a lost cause in JX.
First off, LA had two chances and blew both of them- how exactly do they deserve another team? How could you even guarantee fan support when it wasn't there for the Rams or the Raiders? LA is a celebrity market. The Lakers sell out because they win. The Clippers don't because, well, they don't. I think moving the Jags to LA would produce the same results as they have had in Jax.
The argument that LA is the #2 largest media market doesn't hold up, either. Look at cities where the team enjoys huge fan support, Cleveland and Detroit being two prime examples. LA can't guarantee more money for the Jags; in fact, I believe history shows just the opposite. I agree with those who say if you're going to move the Jags, move them to a city with an already noticeable football fan base.
Also, then notion that Jacksonville is "Gator City" is stupid. As a Jax native I can tell you that fan support, while mainly for college football, is pretty split between the Gators and the Noles, with even the Canes enjoying a good fan base. I'm really curious as to where you did your research for this article.
And Arnold signing that bill means nothing- the NFL still isn't committed to them and neither are any of the teams.
If your in JX how do you know what is really going on in la. Unless you order the la times.
And do you go to the games. If they blocked 3/4 of the games in a season. How are they making money. And come on what team covers seats in there field. that is another issue. Not enough people go to or watch there games
And you want to know what else is stupid you saying La does not deserve a team unless you live here you cannot say that. How would you know if we deserve a team or not. How do you think people from JX would feel if you did not have a team and you guys wanted one and i said straight out on the internet Jacksonville does not deserve a team. you might think i said that but i did not. I am just saying some facts that you could listen to.
Hey you Know i hate the the Jacksonville Jaguars. They arent so good
They should move to real city like La
Ya JX is horrible they cant even sell out they need La
Jacksonville's lease with the team doesn't end until 2030, there is no way the team can move even under new ownership. Do your research before making stupid posts. Jax is only 15 years old, why does every other team get 35-40 years to build a fan base but Jax doesn't? It took the patriots 25+ years to get more than 40,000 people to show up to their stadium. From 95-99 Jax was the third most profitable team in the NFL. With the way the NFL spreads the money out, there is no chance of any team losing money. They can pay the players and staff from the TV contract money alone, which is a little over 70 million to each team a year.Read this then you will see. http://jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/122902/jag_11340226.shtml
Please move the Jags to L.A! they interfere with us seeing the Dolphins in Orlando. Florida is Dolphins and Bucs country!!! Get out Jaguars!!!!!!
NO JAGS PLEASE DONT MOVE OUT HERE YOU SUCK
AND DONT STAY IN JACKSONVILLE MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE
Im from JAX and i have been here for 20 years and i think that we dont appreciate the jaguars enough for them to be out here. to tell you what i think JAX is a college football city
Ive been in JAX for 3 days and have seen no jaguar hats. you guys really dont care about the jags
I have been a fan of JaX Jaguars since 1995. To all of you that commented made some good points, and some of you made some dumb ones too. I have followed them for years even though Im an LA Native since 1987. Trust me, the one person being in jax for 3 days commented that they did not see people wear jaguars hats is so off based, 3 day observation?? give me a break...I come to visit jacksonville every year to see my brother and there are plenty of Jaguar fans every where supporting their team bad or good(By the way, I think I'm the only Jax Jaguar fan in LA). There are alot of people wear Jax gears all the time and on ebay so many people bid on Jax gears. To me they are the best team to go to LA becuase the fan base has not matured yet therefore we can almost claim them to shape them up to to have a LA personality based team. Bills, Vikings, 49ers, and Chargers..do you really think they are going to let the name go! I do support the move to LA, not because I am living there but the fact outweighs the stupid other reasons people say on this blog. It's #2 market, no doubt you can put any team it will succeed-players stay & free agents will come to LA, the jags are 3-3 rebuilding mode w/ promising young players..could easily be 4-2, good to great organization top to bottom (believes in building thru draft and not mortgage their future w/ high priced free agents)so that means in one-two years we will have a playoff guarantee team, Payroll is not too bad either, team colors, team name fits LA, for years overlooked by espn/medias (more highlights w/ espn being in LA-prime time marketing!!) even though they have come close to super bowl berth twice (overlooked by many these achievements).. so going to LA benefits them, the jobs and revenue it will bring to the city of LA, Weaver family will get more value to team. If they do stay in Jax, I will still support them 100% because I know what kind of fever they bring to the city when they make the playoffs and/or have a great season..The culprit of bad ticket sales (no luxury suites to depend on also w/ current setup of stadium, so they make up high ticket regular seats).. bad economy (job market in JAX is one of the smallest) and a dissapointing injury riddled season last year which prompted rebuilding year which got rid of problem players (except Fred Taylor). I believe they will bounce back by next year. So far they are still tied for wildcard berth w/ a favorable remaining schedule. GO Jags!Maurice Drew-second in rushing total yards.. College So Cal. players well represented in Jax.
Ive been in jax for 3 years and have seen no jag fans. i talked to russel and he said he wants to go to la. just kidding i dont know him but i also think the jags will move to la
The Jag's lease with the city means nothing. Leases are about as solid as wills now-a-days. Easily undone and broken in court. The Jags will be the Los Angeles Jaguars in 2 seasons, 3 tops. Jags-49ers will pick up where Rams-49ers left off. And pro football in northern Florida will be relegated to history.
I don't mind the Jaguars moving to LA, but I can see some possible difficulties lying in the path. One would be the fact that all the other NFL teams that tried to base it LA were there for a bit, then effectively got 'kicked out' by how the people there did not want them. I do see that if they do good, that might alter this feeling, but if they don't succeed in a couple seasons, they may end up either moving again. In this case, I do believe that LA is a good first choice, because even if the team does not stay there, it will offer a good transition period when they are trying to find a more reliable location. This is in a way a similar scheme that the current Green Bay Packers used when they moved out of Milwaukee. They did it so that they could keep there experience while Miller Park was built; of course the city withdrew from the original deal, which has made their location more solid. I feel that there is not a city, at the moment that can support a new team, with the exception of New York, which right now is being used by the UFL. However, Orlando, if the economy allows it, could pose as another Florida city that can, at least temporarily hold a team in the future. LA is the best scenario for the short term for the Jaguars, but they will need to keep searching for a better base. Who knows, if the Jags do good in the first seasons, LA may be more accepting of the team. I just hope that it does not, in effect, cause the team to collapse, since this period would be fragile for the franchise. It is possible that the Florida Tuskers could pose as a better team to replace the Jags, of course after they get more experience.
The jags should've never been in jacksonville to begin with, the city has is more of a retirement home.I think the jags should move to San Antonio. People love their football in the state of texas and why not San.Antonio. Los Angeles isn't a bad choice but they lost the rams and raiders back in 1995.The Jags are the best option for moving.
I think it's going to happen. Just like when L.A. took the movie insdustry from J'ville back in the day they will take their Football Team also. Bigger market and they can make more money. Al Davis wanted to keep the Raiders in Los Angeles but he didn't own the whole team he had two partners who had more stake and they wanted to go back to Oakland what a dumb move the Raiders made more money in Los Angeles than Oakland. The Jags see that they want Football bad here and I see the Jags leaving Duval.
LA enjoy the rams!!!! LOL
Interesting points, I beg to differ though.
Not a freaking chance. Being a Floridian/and LA resident back and forth for 50+ years has taught me a couple of things y'all need to know. (The Y'all is just a taste of whats up).
Why it won't be the Jaguars...
Like California, Florida has long been a boom market. Consider when Disney landed Orlando didn't have 100,000 people and Jacksonville was around 200,000. Today both are in the million and a half and Jax is still seeing 15% annual growth (Orlando isn't). Jax has landed two huge port deals, Boeing, Bridgestone, and is on the brink of greater things - in spite of the economy. Most folks just don't know that, in fact Jax is more sprawled then LA. The city covering over 700 square miles, within the city limits, thus retaining most of it's metro population. Weaver is smart, he knows there is a future in Jacksonville as there is in LA, but he won't move.
I fully expect the league knows the economic future of Jacksonville, Los Angeles better then we do, but it doesn't look bad. On the other hand, they also know that the North and Northeast have suffered a declining population base for years. Jacksonville is the 3Rd largest city on the east coast of the USA, and in number 2, Philadelphia, one in three homes were vacant (during the recent boom). Teams owners in Cleveland, Buffalo, perhaps Cincinnati, Detroit and the Twin Cities have got to be looking at their long term.
Another reason? Yes, and this is purely cultural in nature, Weaver is from the South. The Rebel blood runs thick and deep, Jacksonville is his home and the more the national media says he'll give up, the more determined he'll be to hang on. Call it the "Olustee influence," (look it up) but he will give no quarter. "Yankee pressure" is only going to make him impossible to deal with.
Jax is still respectible in the numbers in the stadium, and new stadium is VERY MUCH on the horizon, probably in the 50,000-60,000 seat range, maybe under a roof. As for income from those numbers Orlando is considered in the Jacksonville Market as well as Daytona Beach, more TV's equal more money. More then that, he his what might be the best owner deal in the league. The city owns the stadium, parking and shuttles, and Weaver keeps the income!
Just an opinion, but a serious one, Check us out sometime:

BOB/ aka "Ocklawaha in the Swamp"
heres the thing people dont get, the NFL has a deadline of Thrus for ticket sales and if enough tickets arent sold by thrus they blackout the games. i went to the jags game last wk and we had 53230 fans according to the jumbotron thats out of 70000 seats thats .236% of empty seats. Were a small market and cant fill our stadium but our stadium is about .236% empty? they are selling tickets just not by the NFL's thurs deadline there all last min. purchases. so all this BS about jax not being able to fill seats is just hear say. fly n and join a jags game and c what the seating looks like. info youve heard about not selling enough tickets is based on the tickets sold by NFL's thurs deadline, not actual attendance at kick off through the 1st half of 1st quarter.
sorry that was the attendance for the bills game two wks ago.
fuck all you idiots...i work in the nfl office, and i can guarantee you that the bills are going to toronto, and the jags are going to LA, it is all being worked out, and is practically a done deal, so take your alternate theories and shove them up your dumb asses
Jacksonville is not a pro sports town. Thats not a knock on them...its a nice area for many things..just not pro sports.
I live in South Florida, and we have a tough time with attendance for any team thats not in contention. The Marlins don't draw even if they are in contention.
So J'ville....enjoy the annual Gator Bowl. Let LA have your team, third times the charm.
Jags would be a perfect fit for LA. Especially with the culturally historical roots of the mexican american. In LA there is a lot of chicano consiousness and th Jag is an Iconic animal symbol of indigenious history dating back the Aztec Jaguar Warriors. The Jags would be a perfect Mascot for LA. LA would be a terrific market for an NFL team..problem is - there would need to be a signifigant private investment in a stadium. The people of LA arent gonna support it, event though the people of LA miss having a team.
Ok, Los Angeles Jaguars. Sounds good. Next question is, which division do they move to? Gotta switch places with a West team. First logical choice is Kansas City, right? But that would kill some long-standing rivalries, Chiefs-Raiders etc. Only other logical choice is in the NFC West: Ironically, the formerly-L.A. Rams. So, you put the L.A. Jags in the NFC West where they fit right in geographically with Arizona, San Fran and Seattle. And St Louis fits right in geographically with Houston, Indy and Tennessee in the AFC South. (And yes, the Colts DO belong in the South division, because Indiana is really just the northernmost 'southern' state.)
I bet money that Weaver announces the move a week after the season ends. It's all economics... And I don't want to here the "small market issue" because there is plenty of money to go around in Jacksonville. Buffalo, Green Bay, Minnesota, and Charlotte all have smaller populations than Jacksonville but still can fill seats. Hell, ppl in Minnesota and the Carolinas drive 2-3 hrs to watch a game. The reality is that Jacksonville is a socially outdated, crime overflowing, and socially/racially divided city. Jacksonville is cannot support large scale sporting events such as the NFL for long periods of time. LA has the financial, commercial, and population base to keep the seats filled. It's a no-brainer from a business stand point. And considering how alot of citizens feel about the Jags in Jax, Weaver owns nothing to the city of Jacksonville. He should file suit for damages because Jacksonville has certainly not kept its' side of the bargain....
Bye Bye Jags, Go Seahawks...
Great team not so great fans... I don't care for a NFL team in L.A. but I would like to see one move to L.A. soon! I don't want my Chargers to go from San Diego. May b this is our year! If we get to play feb.7 we get to play for a long time here in sunny San Diego.
Now I dont live in Jacksonville but I have been a Jags fan ever since they came into the league. It's embarrasing to see how the people in JX treat the team it's almost as if they dont care. I am a complete supporter of the jags moving to LA because we are so close to making our push for the super bowl and being in the LA market would definately attract the attention of big name free agents in the league. Los Angeles Jaguars sounds awesome to me. I do see them joining the NFC West taking the Rams spot and the Rams joining the AFC South to sit at the bottom of that division for years. Also, it would give the NFC West more credibility giving the Arizona Cardinals a challenge in the division. Also, look for the Oakland Raiders to move back to LA being that the stadium is going to accomodate 2 nfl teams. This would work out to being that they wouldnt have to switch divisions.
The Raiders will move to back L.A. Again. Stop with the Jag's stuff already it's not gonna happen. Al Davis owns the rights to Los Angeles.
There is absolutely no doubt that the Jags will relocate, although the Vikings and Bills are the other contenders of course. If teams as solid as the Cleveland Browns can relocate then historic missteps like the Jags can too.
Next home game in LA?
The Jags stuff is not gonna happen? youre delusional. the Jags are a perfect fit for LA and the single most attractive candidate thusfar. Al Davis owns the rights to nothing which has already been decided in court. Los Angeles Jaguars.....get used to it.
The Jaguars moving to LA-LA Land will make sense because when our Governator signed the environmental waiver to build the stadium, he clearly said that it would create more jobs for California. Therefore, moving the niners, bolts or raiders would not make sense. And as far as the charger fans they do not want their team to go to L.A. Charger fans have been selling out games for years and are very faithful. The only problem in S.D. is that the city council (haters) can't make up their mind to support a new stadium. Many people dont see anything wrong with the Qualcomm site. It is beautiful there, but will not host Super Bowls because NFL executives dont think it is up to par....please!~ San Diego is a football town and for the raiders to survive we all know what must happen....ANd for the niners it is very unfortunate that they cannot get somethng done, especially after all their past success.. If anyone deserves a stadium it is the niners.
NFL exec's and owners know who is moving, unfortunately the fans are the ones that are going to pay the price. Sucks for all those faithful fans of the Jags if they were to move. Don't worry though, they will not last in L.A. People in L.A. do not support NFL. This whole moving a franchise is all about the $$.
Please don't go Jags
Obvisiously you have either not done your homework or not a history major. The stadium is NOT the old Gator bowl. The entire Gator bowl was completely demolished with the exception of one wing that houses the seats above the sky boxes. The stadium is gorgeous. Just like everyone and every town Jacksonville has fallen on hard times. The Jags are well loved all over the world as many military folks are from there. Go to any Navy base and what do you find on game day Jaguar jersey being worn. Leave the Jaguars alone and in Jacksonville.
LA has had their chance with NFL. Not once, not twice but three times. Remember the LA Raiders? They played at LA Memorial Coliesum from 1982-1994 and are now known as the Oakland Raiders. Remember the LA Chargers? They played at LA Memorial Coliesum in 1960. They are now the San Deigo Chargers. Remember the LA Rams? They played at LA Memorial Coliesum from 1945 - 1980 and are now the St. Louis Rams.
What the Jags needs is not a new stadium they need a new coach and new lines. Come one Wayne get a decent coach that will light a fire under the teams and the city.
WOW i read everyone of these...
The truth hurts. Jacksonville is a city that can't support a single NFL team. This was made evident by extremely low ticket sales year round. Jacksonville was given a golden opportunity and they have blown it. Once the NFL leaves, they will never come back. Los Angeles, love it or hate it, can support five NFL teams with ease. I don't need another trip down memory lane. The Raiders and the Rams left because they couldn't get a stadium built. Now there is a project that is ready to go.
Newsflash! Los Angeles has awesome football fans and anyone who thinks otherwise and suck it!
A challenge to those ranting about LA who also fancy themselves rational thinkers:
Explain why Jacksonville is a better place for the team *going forward* than Los Angeles. You're free to bring up history only as it applies to the future, not just to gripe.

I can understand that all you jax fans dont want to have the jags move but the NFL is a business and here in L.A. we have so many people aching for an NFL team and to be honest almost every game will get great ratings and attendance for most of the games
it's a done deal the jaguars are coming to los angeles and will be put in the nfc west, the rams will move to the afc south to replace the jaguars. the jaguars will be playing in los angeles in 2012, the new stadium will be operational in 2013, an will be awarded the super bowl in 2016, celebrating the first super bowl in 1967, 50 years later.
I hope Jan. 28 is right. Maybe we could even get the Jags in '11?
My main team will always be the Jets, however as a UCLA Bruin, I love MJD, which has made me a Jags fan. If they come to LA and go to NFC West I have no rooting conflict. The only way Jags get in the Jets way is in the Super Bowl.
i heard there was a 50/50 shot at a team in LA in 2010 season, 100% chance in 2011, This was on the news in LA its not from a bar chat. Also....The bills in Canada?...Try 2 teams in LA just like with the jets/Giants, Remember, If there was no shot at a team in LA things wouldnt be where they are, its in teh works been approved that says it all....There will be football in LA.
I think 2 teams in LA would be overkill. One (the Jags) will be just fine. Also, I want to keep the Bills in the AFC East playing the Jets. Moving the Bills out here would mess up the divisions.
The Jags need to move to LA, they hardly have any fan support, all of their home games this here were black out on TV. Also Los Angeles is already building a stadium by LAX and is sceduled to be done in 2011
The Division thing is so simple, If you move the Jags to L.A. just take the Rams out of the NFC West then put the Rams in the AFC South wit the COLTS :), Texans, and Titans. SIMPLE AS PIE!!!!
Let's not forget about the Buffalo Bills!! There's talk of Toronto, San Antonio, or possibly even Las Vegas?? for them. And the talk of the Chiefs/Browns moving? I could see that.
And the Jets! Those are the teams I could see moving. Jacksonville to L.A., Bills to San Antonio, Chiefs/Browns to Las Vegas, and the Jets to Toronto or POSSIBLY Vancouver or Portland
Everyone BUT the people of Southern California want a team in L.A.? Incognegro, do you live in the Southland? Why do you speculate this? You have no idea.
There are thousands of people who want a professional team in Los Angeles. I know hundreds personally. They are in the process of finding a site to build a state of the art facility as we speak. The funding is there and the desire is there from the people.
The ideal situation is to add The LA Jags to the NFC West with Zona, SF and Seattle. You then take the St. Louis Rams and add them to the AFC South. The other teams in that division; Indy, Tennessee and Houston are all right in the immediate vacinity of St. Louis! It would be a perfect trade!
San Antonio, Texas is a great place to move the jags! San Antonio can gin up a new fan base from nearby Austin, Corpus Christi,Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley!!I know San Antonio would love to have a franchise in the city. They support the Spurs very well and they can generate a rivalry with Houston! Why not have three nfl teams in the state of TEXAS!!
Jaguars won't move simply because the city does support the team. Jax sold more season tickets this offseason than any other NFL team and will keep any games from being blacked out this season. Our stadium is now Everbank Field with a new 4 year multi-millon dollar naming rights deal and the front office has re-energized the team with outstanding drafts 2 years in a row and a commitment to winning with good players who are also good people with the right mindset. Signing free agents like Aaron Kampman, trading for Kirk Morrison and drafting Tyson Alualu when they did are prime examples of this. The Jacksonville Jaguars are staying on the First Coast.
The Jags aren't leaving Jacksonville anytime soon. The owner said too many times too count that he is not selling the team. Your only chance is if his children sell the team once they gain control. You guts had the raiders and they left, maybe if you guys showed up to the games they would still be there. Our only problem is the stadium is too big for a small market team. Find you some other team looking for a new stadium (we are not) and take them. Also we gonna be in San Diego on Sunday so root for the boy MJD then cause Monday we back in Florida.
