Tweeting, McNair and Michael Vick

Category: , , , , , , ,

So much has been going on the past week... tragedy, players communicating with fans/opponents through twitter and Michael Vick. So much to discuss, so little time. Let's take a look shall we....

McNair Situation Finally Sinking In

Photobucket

On Saturday, when I heard about the McNair death, I was numb to it... I think the human mind is numb to really bad news the first day, but once the 2nd, 3rd and 4th day comes, the reality starts to set in. With all of the explicit details of McNair and his alleged relationship with Sahel Kazemi, it's really brought out a lot of hateful comments regarding McNair.

I would never condone a married man cheating on his wife and family, but I refuse to make harsh comments about a man because he was flawed. McNair made mistakes like every other human walking this earth, but he was still a great football player and did great things for the community. No one can deny that. There is a column in the Baltimore Sun today regarding McNair. It was a really good read and I agreed with everything Peter Schmuck had to say.

My heart goes out to the McNair and the Kazemi families. Although he made some bad personal decisions during the last few months of his life, he didn't deserve to go out like this. I'm far from perfect and I don't know anyone who is. Jeff Fisher gave a great example of how we should remember Air McNair. I, for one, will miss him dearly

Darnell Dockett Tweets About Future With Cardinals

I love twitter. Whoever created twitter is a genius! It's like reading athlete's and celebrity's personal text messages and random thoughts. You can find out a lot about people if you follow them on twitter (shameless plug moment, follow me on twitter @thenflchick).

So, yesterday afternoon, NFL super agent Drew Rosenhaus (@RosenhausSports) tweets that Cards DT Darnell Dockett has some news he wants to tweet at 8:15pm. Being as though I follow Dockett (@ddockett), I figured I'd check in and see what this is all about. Here's what Dockett tweeted last night:

"I am happy to announce that after meeting with the team recently, I have full faith and confidence in the Cardinals organization

and I am looking forward to a great season. From the first day of training camp and on, I will not let my contract issues distract me

or my team from reaching our goals-. I also look forward to playing with my teammates and defending our NFC championship title

and I appreciate the support I've received from all my fans this offseason. - WE WILL WIN THE NFC WEST"

Oh snap!!!!!

Dockett's styling on you, NFC West!!! LOL... But seriously, I think it's great that he tweeted (in caps by-the-way) that they will win the NFC West. If the Rams, Seahawks and 49ers needed any motivation this season, this is it. Not to say I don't agree with Dockett.... the NFC West is pretty pathetic and I see them winning it with flying colors. But the fact that he put it on the world wide web for players and fans to read it all at once is great entertainment for fans like me, feening for some NFL news during this dry patch.

This is great news for the Cardinals organization. Dockett is a great talent to have on their defense and anything that will keep him and the team focused is a plus. Kudos to Dockett for not allowing his personal business to get involved with playing football. That's why you pay Drew the big bucks. He's supposed to do that for you.

Now all I have to do is retweet his comments to Matt Hasselbeck, Steven Jackson and Frank Gore and ask them what they are gonna do about it... tee hee hee.... God, I love twitter!

UFL Considers Vick To Play In New League

Photobucket Photobucket

Okay,
Roger Goodell, if you can read this and have any sense at all, please don't allow this to happen.

Michael Vick is a great athlete with a lot of talent and still has a great deal of star power amongst NFL fans. Whether it be, fans showing up to show their support of fans coming to heckle him and flip him the bird, they will come out if Vick is on an NFL roster. So when I read that UFL
commissioner Michael Huyghue is considering Vick to play for them as long as he has no pending legalities, my initial reaction was like so

I was saying to myself this cannot possibly happen. The NFL cannot be this simple to let this go down!

Think about this for a sec. If the UFL brings in Vick, they'll be doing something that the USFL and XFL were unable to do. Bring in a NFL superstar who is still relevant to fans.

Dennis Green even had this so say when it came to recruiting Vick,

"Now he has to show he loves the game and is a responsible citizen. You can't show you love the game if you're not able to play the game. So if Michael Vick were to say, 'I will play for not a lot of money,' well, hello. We're here.

"If he is not allowed back into the NFL and he wants to show he is a model citizen and he loves the game, there is not a better situation for him."

If this isn't a selling quote to Vick, then I dunno what is. While the other leagues may have tried to compete with the NFL and failed, Vick may actually give this UFL a leg to stand one.

Okay who am I kidding here... I'm lying... I don't see the UFL making it past 3 years.. this is just a ploy to speak out because I think Vick has paid his debt to society and will always have to live with the mistakes he made, which should be enough punishment to allow him to come back and play for the NFL.

Again...
Roger Goodell, if you can read this and have any sense at all, please don't allow this to happen. Let Mike back in to play... NFL fans will thank you.

1. Steve McNair- I'm very sorry to him go. He was a great ball player and a great man. Even if he did cheat, that should not discount what he has done for black college players, the black quarterback, Alcorn State, the Titans and the Nashville community.

2. I hate to say this about an ex-FSU Seminole but Dockett is one of the rising stars in the NFL and the Cardinals would be dumb to let him go.

3. Roger Goodell is a-hole enough to suspend Michael Vick for about four games. I think he's going to do it, but we'll see!!!

Good read young lady!

Agreed wholeheartedly @ Steve.

If the Cards don't win, something major musta happened. @ NFC West.

Mike has paid his debt. Let him pay. Period.
