As most of you NFL lovers heard by now, KC Chiefs RB Larry Johnson has been dismissed of his duties from the organization. I don't think this really comes as a shock to anyone, including Johnson himself.
Just last week, I awarded Johnson with my infamous "Sitcho Azz Down Award", because of his recent mishaps, including talking bad about Chiefs head coach Todd Haley and saying/tweeting gay slurs at people. While the Chiefs did suspend Johnson, they finally felt it was time to cut ties with the troubled star.
Since 2006, he's degraded his own head coach and fans, and had 2 separate charges of disturbing the peace. While most NFL teams will turn a blind eye to such tom foolery if a player produces, Johnson's numbers are on the decline. In 2006, Johnson averaged 137.4 yards from scrimmage, per game. Three seasons later, in 2009, Johnson averages a lousy 62 yards per game.
Pardon me while I refrain from feeling sorry for LJ. While I don't expect players to go out of their way to be role models for children, I do expect them to have respect towards others. From Johnson's off-the-field antics, along with his lackluster performance on the field, it was a no brainer to hand Johnson his walking papers.
This split is best for all parties involved. It allows KC to get rid of the distractions and dead weight on the team, and it allows Johnson to possibly have a fresh start somewhere else. Clearly, he had worn out his welcome in KC. But maybe a new scene will help motivate him to be a better player and even better person. Who knows, maybe his BFF Jay Z will hire him to do some work for Roc-A-Fella now that he is unemployed.
Bye Larry..... It's Been Real!
Or maybe the Ravens will add him to their RB rotation...hahahahaahaha
