First Nnamdi Asomugha, now this.... On twitter today, ESPN correspondent Adam Schefter reported that the Raiders and K Sebastian Janikowski reached a record deal- Here's his tweet:

Remember, it was just one year ago that Skeletor AKA Al Davis gave Raiders CB Asomugha a record deal for a DB- 3 years, $45 million, just to keep him on his dysfunctional team.



Some folks will say that paying Janikowski this much money is the right thing to do, because outside of Asomugha, Janikowski is the next best thing on the roster. Maybe that's true. But Janikowski is a kicker!!!! $4 million per year to kick field goals and place kick offs? That's a bit much, even for a player as important as Janikowski. On the other hand, good for Janikowski to get a huge payday, I can never hate on that. But I'm sure even HE knows he got over like a fat rat, and is laughing all the way to the bank as we speak.


Someone please take Al Davis' checkbook and GM abilities.

It's that time of year, ladies and gents. I know how folks love then I tell people to "Sitchoazz Down". This time, I'm doing a season edition. There have been some owners, players and coaches who have been naughty in the 2009 NFL season, and simply need to be told to sit down. So I came up with an awards blog, to call them out.

I asked for participation amongst friends, family and of course Twitter and received an overwhelming response. Thanks to all who participated in my survey, you were extremely helpful.

For the owner and coach, the choice was pretty unanimous. It was the player that I received the most different answers for. What awards show is an awards show without theme music. Well, since all of these guys are losers, anyway, I think this music is quite fitting:



So without further ado, let's hand out the awards.

The Sitchoazz Down Winner for an owner IS.........................



By a landslide, Daniel Snyder.


Everyone knows this is the right choice. Since Danny Boy took over the Washington Redskins in 1999, he's done nothing but water down the organization. The last 10 seasons, the Redskins have a dismal record of 70-90, 6 head coaching changes, 2 playoff appearances, 0 division titles and one bad deal after another. We all remember when Deion Sanders came to town but there weren't many "Prime Time" moments during his tenure . But the most recent debacle, is signing "Fat Albert" Haynesworth to a record $100 million deal. While Haynesworth isn't a bust, he definitely hasn't held up his end of the bargain so far, given the huge contract he's received.

Snyder loves to trade away quality draft picks for players that he usually overpays for. He's neglected important positions such as his offensive line, and even had signs and t-shirts that said anything bad about him or the team, banned from the stadium. Did I miss anything?!

The Sitchoazz Down Winner for a coach IS.........................

None other than Josh McDaniels of the Denver Broncos.


This was another unanimous selection. McDaniels has done nothing but cause drama from the day he arrived in Denver to replace Mike Shanahan. It all started when McDaniels inquired about a possible trade for then-Patriots QB Matt Cassel. Crybaby Jay Cutler got his boxer briefs in a bunch and demanded a trade, which he was then granted and sent to the Chicago Bears. Then McDaniels had a falling out with WR Brandon Marshall during training camp and suspended Marshall.

When the regular season started, all was well when the Broncos went 6-0. The team was playing well and everyone was hugging and kissing, it was a big, soppy love fest. But then the Broncos went 2-8 down the stretch and slipped out of playoff contention. Once again, Marshell and McDaniels had another falling out, and McDaniels called Marshall out about an injury. Marshall and another teammate were then benched and were advised they were not allowed on the sidelines or in the locker room. Now the Broncos are almost certain to trade away their top offensive threat in the offseason, due to the conflict. Way to go rook! Scaring all of your good players away seemed to be the way to go in 2009 for McDaniels.

Rex Ryan, New York Jets-

Sexy Rexy, after the team lost to the Falcons, declared that his team was in fact out of playoff contention at 7-7, when they were still mathematically in it. Way to show confidence in your team. That, plus the fact that he looks 15 1/2 months pregnant gives him a mention.

Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh Steelers-

Contrary to popular belief, I never once thought of Tomlin. But Steelers fans asked for him to be on this list. The reason? His "unleash hell" comments that he made after the Ravens OT loss. The result after: Losses to the Raiders and Browns. Yep, you unleashed hell alright. Sitchoazz down!


The Sitchoazz Down Winner for a player IS.........................

We actually had a tie for this recipient. I am pleased to announce the winners of the Player Award is none others than Broncos WR Brandon Marshall and Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell


Hmmm.... Marshalll looks a little shocked to have made my list. Actually, most folks that voted for McDaniels, voted for Marshall also. While they both come from the same organization, majority of the voters think that Marshall is just as much to blame as McDaniels in this petty battle for control. . In addition to the disciplinary problems Marshall faced during training camp, it's been reported that McDaniels benched Marshall in the Broncos finale because he was late for a therapy meeting. Add to the fact that Marshall has had off-the-field issues recent (he was accused of assaulting an ex-girlfriend) and in the past, and he's a shoe-in.

Russell is on the list because he's the laziest, fattest QB I think anyone has ever seen.

The former #1 overall draft pick has done nothing to keep his job. It's been alleged that Russell does not study film, not a hard worker and was eventually benched by Raiders coach Tom Cable because he was awful on the field. Russell recently missed his final team meetings to go catch a plane to Las Vegas, so yeah... clearly football isn't his priority. And by the looks of that ugly azz chain he wears, he's stealing money and getting away with it.

Larry Johnson, KC Chiefs/Cincinnati Bengals-

To put it kindly, LJ is a Douche Lord (ala Khloe Kardashian). Okay, I realize that wasn't kind at all. But so what. Johnson went on a twitter rampage, bad mouthing Chiefs head coach Todd Haley and afterward, calling followers gay slurs. Johnson was eventually let go and re-signed with the Bengals. Though he's been quiet since going to Cincy, his little tantrum gives him a clear runner-up spot in the awards show. He needs to do more than sit has ass down, he needs to STFU, too.

The Raiders need to find a new slogan. Long gone are the days of "Commitment To Excellence", and now are the days of "Dysfunctional Family". Where do we begin? Let's start with the most recent event that has come to light.

News reports recently came out that Raiders head coach Tom Cable punched defensive assistant Randy Hanson, after Hanson allegedly used vulgar language towards defensive coordinator John Marshall. Since the initial report, Cable has come out and said that he did not punch Hanson, that he simply flipped Hanson out of his chair, causing him to break a facial bone in his cheek.

Anyone see anything wrong with this picture?????

Okay, first off, let me say this. I know training camp is well under way. I know coaches are just as fired up as the players. And I know that emotions can be at an all time high. And maybe if this happened to another team, we would look at it, talk about, and then move on. But it didn't. It happened to the Oakland Raiders.

Now, we all know that Al Davis is a character, to say the least. But at one point, the Raiders were one of the NFL's elite franchises. Maybe it's old age, but as time goes by, the Raiders got weirder and more dysfunctional. Since 2002, the Raiders have done the following:

-They have had a record of 24-72, one of the worst records in the league during that span.

-They traded head coach Jon Gruden, who took the team to the playoffs in consecutive years, to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who eventually beat the Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII, by a blowout score of 48-21

-Davis had an awful divorce with head coach Lane Kiffin, even calling Kiffin a liar. Who could forget that press conference. Like to see it?? Here it goes



-They have had 5 head coaching changes, including Kiffin, Bill Callahan and Art Shell

-Davis signed CB Nnamdi Asomugha to a $45.3 million, three-year contract, that's more than most starting QB's currently make.

-Considered a high 2nd round pick, Davis drafted former Maryland WR Darrius Heyward-Bey with the 7th overall pick, drafting him over more proven receives such as Michael Crabtree and Jeremy Maclin

The Raiders have made some strides in improving the team. This offseason, they signed free agent QB Jeff Garcia, to compete with JaMarcus Russell for the starting position. And with a healthy Darren McFadden, Oakland could have one of the most talented backfields, with McFadden, Michael Bush and Justin Fargas.


Unless something changes, the Raiders will continue to be labeled one of the most dysfunctional teams in the NFL. They definitely have talent to make them competitive, but the consistency starts with the ownership. In order for the Raiders to be a force again, Davis needs to rely on more than just speed in terms of drafting players and signing free agents. Second, bringing in a great coaching staff will help with the development of the young players. Now, I'm not saying Cable isn't it, but this recent situation doesn't help his case, either. Being stable at the coaching position is crucial to a good organization. And finally, hire some consultants and actually LISTEN to their ideas and what they have to say. Al Davis has to allow people to assist him in running a first class organization. All of the successful organizations such as New England, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis all have people who have duties in making the team better.

Raiders fans are more than ready to get back to the days of "Just Win Baby". If Davis doesn't right this ship soon.... well, let's just say, this situation won't be pretty.

Sports Illustrated posted their top 5 and worst 5 owners in each sport last Friday. So we're going to take a close look at the owners they selected for football. Let's analyze each ranking and see how accurate SI is when it comes to picking who's smooth sailing or who needs to sell their team ASAP!



Top Five Owners


5. Steve Bisciotti, Baltimore Ravens- Now y'all already know... I'm totally biased to this pick and I love it. Bisciotti purchased the franchise from Art Modell as a minority owner in 2000 and took over the team in 2004 as the majority. Since 2000, the Ravens have 5 playoff appearances, 1 Super Bowl championship and a historic defense. Not to mention one of the best GM's in the league in Ozzie Newsome. I've met Bisciotti before, and he is the coolest owner I've ever met (okay... my ONLY owner to ever meet, but he's still cool as a fan). Plus he always has the tannest looking tan you've ever seen!

Bisciotti's tan has the Rick James aura, so you know that means he's great. Love this pick!! I'm The NFL Chick and I approve this message!

4. Jeffrey Lurie, Philadelphia Eagles- I have no real issue with this pick, but I do have 2 slight objections. One, since Lurie bought the team in 1994 the Eagles have had 9 playoff appearances. But 0 championships. And two, Lurie is known to be cheap at times, constantly being way under the salary cap and letting team leaders go to other teams (Brian Dawkins most recently. Is McNabb next???). Hey.. I have an idea! Switch Bisciotti and Lurie's spots and I'll call it even. No?? *sigh* okay (I tried Steve, sorry....)

3. Mara & Tisch Families, New York Giants- Okay, one stat I just saw that blew me away... They bought the franchise for $500 back in 1925. Five hundred dollars??? Okay, I'm sure that is equivalent to a million dollars now, but wow, that sounds like chump change. I'm totally cool with this choice. The Giants helped build the NFL with the 1958 Championship game against the Baltimore Colts, also known as "The Greatest Game Ever Played" and they pulled a hell of an upset over the then-undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. Whenever history takes place, the Giants name pops up.

2. Robert Kraft, New England Patriots- Kraft has done what no other team has been able to do since the salary cap was created, build a dynasty (remember the Cowboys teams were intact by the time salary cap started in 1994). With the help of puppet mas.. I mean, NFL genius Bill Belichick, the Pats are contenders every season.

Even with the loss of QB Tom Brady in 2008, The Pats were still able to go 11-5 with an unknown QB and an old defense. And from what I hear, Patriot Place is an absolute beauty and a gold mine (which I will be seeing in October). Kraft deserves this spot. The Pats have earned it

1. Rooney family, Pittsburgh Steelers- Who else would you have picked for the number one spot?? Six Super Bowl championships and one of the most followed teams in football, the Rooney's deserve this honor. The Steelers are my ultimate nemesis, but I respect the team and the Rooney family a lot. They constantly bring in playmakers and great head coaches, and they never tend to overpay for a player and find ways to move on when they are gone. However, I think this should be a little more specific.

Art Jr and Dan Rooney are responsible for their success, not the Sr. It's no secret that until the 1970's the Steelers were not good at all. When the sons took over, the franchise took off. Hats off to the Rooney's for a great job!


Worst Five Owners


5. Denise DeBartolo York, San Francisco 49ers- See now.... this is why women aren't taken seriously when we lead. When Denise's brother Eddie was involved in a gambling scandal and she took over, she handed the business off to her husband, John York. Like a woman in love, she let her emotions get in the way of business, by giving him the keys to the car. York is a horrible owner. The 49ers were the first team to reach 5 Super Bowls, and has since fallen off the wagon. One of the most storied franchises has since been a laughing stock in this league. From poor coaching, bad draft picks and head coaches pulling down their pants at halftime, they are in bad shape.

4. Mike Brown, Cincinnati Bengals- This should be the number 1 pick out of all of the owners in the league. Since taking over the team from his father, the late Paul Brown, the Bengals have the worst winning percentage out of all the 5 worst owners with .351%. That's beyond sad, that's a disgrace!

In addition to poor ownership, Brown also acts as the GM. Remember Akili Smith, Peter Warrick, Ki-Jana Carter??? All bust picks since Brown took over the team in 1991. While the Bengals seemed to have made strides for change with one of the best drafts last month, their overall record is Gawd awful. SI was dead wrong on this one. This is number 1!

3. Daniel Snyder, Washington Redskins- I'm one of the people that think Snyder is an idiot. I'm not a big fan on how he operates. He loves to overpay free agents (Deion Sanders, Adam Archuleta and most recently Albert Haynesworth) and most of them tend to never pan out for what they are worth. He tends to confuse the NFL with Fantasy Football and he always find ways to bring in players with no cap space available. A football owner he is not. However, I think Snyder is one of the smartest owners when it comes to marketing. His franchise tops Forbes list every year in NFL franchises (sorry Cowboys fans.. it's true) and is at the top in revenue year in and year out. I think he is extremely smart in that aspect of the franchise. If Snyder could allow a real GM to come in and shape the franchise the way it should be done, i.e. smart free agency signings, more draft picks, etc, then the Redskins will be much better off. Is he a bad owner? In my opinion, yes. But #3 is too high.

2. William Clay Ford, Detroit Lions- One good thing about Ford, he's loyal. He hired former-player-turned-broadcaster Matt Millen to take over the handling of personnel of the team and stuck with him for 7 long, horrible years and they were beyond bad during that time. Millen never produced a winning team, drafted a bunch of busts and never gave fans any hope that the franchise was moving forward instead of backward. Yet, in 2005 he gave Millen an extension anyway.

He finally let Millen go during the 2008 season- the same season in which the Lions did something no other team has ever done. Go 0-16. Since Ford's tenure as owner, the Lions have had a .411 winning percentage. It's still better than Brown's, but Ford could be a clear contender for the worst owner in the league. 0-16??? You know that's bad when you can't win ONE game. That's what loyalty will get you... 0-16

1. Al Davis, Oakland Raiders- Now I think, just like everyone else, that Davis is a either a nut case, or he has stage 3 dementia. But I don't agree with this ranking at all. And I'll tell you why. Based on the SI article, Davis has a .569 winning %, 21 playoff appearances and 4 championships since 1966. His winning pct is better than owners of the Steelers (who has more titles), Giants (who's been around since... forever) and Eagles(who still has no championships), all who were in the Top 5 for best owners. Three Super Bowls and one AFL Championship, not to mention the 2002 SB appearance takes Davis far away from being the worst owner. Look, the guy is like 112 years old and reminds me of Skeletor from the cartoon He-Man.

But in his prime, Davis was a winner. Anyone who has a slogan that says "Just Win Baby" cannot be #1 on such list, I'm sorry. Mike Brown and the Fords should duke it out for the worst. And where's Bill Bidwill in this conversation?? The Cardinals had their first playoff appearance since 1998 and he suddenly gets a pass??? I demand a recount... or some new writers to come up with a more accurate list. I'm not buying this one at all!
