NFL Tuesday Round-Up

Category: , , , , , , ,

Last night's game between the Saints and 49ers was a great MNF game (Baltimore/NY Jets, are you reading this?!). That's what fans expect for a MNF game. Excitement, nail biting and good football. But last's night's game didn't come without injury. Saints RB Reggie Bush is expected to be out at least 6 weeks with a fractured fibula in his right leg.

MRI tests will be done today to confirm the injury. Keep ya head up, Reggie!

-Even being 0-2, I still expect the 49ers to win the division. Alex Smith grew up last night, something we expected to see from him 5 years ago, coming out of the draft. I guess it's better late then never. I added Smith in my Top 20 QB list for 2010, so he better not make a fool out of me!

-Braylon Edwards was arrested for a DWI charge last night. According to the NY Post, here's the skinny:

Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards was busted on a drunken driving charge early this morning, after cops pulled him over on the West Side and found he had double the legal limit of alcohol in his system, police said.

Braylon Edwards

Edwards, 27, was arrested at 5:15 a.m. and charged with DWI, after cops pulled over his Range Rover at 34th Street and 12th Avenue for having overly-tinted windows. Police said they smelled alcohol and Edwards blew a 0.16 on a Breathalyzer, or double the state's legal limit of 0.08.

I guess Braylon was still teaching folks how to dougie like the day before in the Pats game. Except this time there was liquor.. and maybe girls... and with a car..... Just look at this mugshot, courtesy of WPIX in NY:

Braylon Edwards mugshot

Looking like a bad Rick Ross impersonator. Go sitcho azz down, Braylon. And take that beard with you!

-In other news, Kurt Warner made his appearance on Dancing With The Stars. He and dance partner Anna Trebunskaya came out swinging, doing the Viennese Waltz to start the season. If Warner can waltz NEARLY as good as he can Walk It Out, than he should be a Top 3 dancer when it's all said and done!

Sitchoazz Down Vernon Davis!!!!

It's back! The blog post everyone love. It's time for Sitchoazz Down!

This week's award was hard to choose from. The award could have easily went to former Browns QB Derek Anderson for the comments he made about Cleveland's fans, after his release. But I actually thought that was pretty funny (if you didn't hear what he said, click here). So, I couldn't TRULY give it to him if I giggled.

So on to the next one... This weeks award goes to San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis. And with good reason.

If you have been living under a rock, then you haven't heard the news. Washington, DC's Coolidge High School just hired Natalie Robinson to be the first black female head coach of the school's varsity football team.

Of course, this news comes with tons of controversy, especially from the male side. This weekend on Twitter, Vernon Davis let it be known, his feelings on the new head coach near his home town:

First off, it's ridiculous that you can't spell RIDICULOUS. Listen, I know Twitter doesn't have to be grammar perfect. But when you are about to discuss a sensitive topic, I expect all T's crossed, and all I's dotted. Dumb ass!

Okay, he went apples and oranges just that fast. What the hell does a woman football coach have anything to do with a woman's strength coach?!?!

*sexist tweet*
Ummmm.. FYI Mr. Davis, there ARE male cheerleaders out there. Actually, there are male cheerleaders in the NFL. No I'm not making it up. If you think I am, GOOGLE IT!

Okay, this is when the convo totally went left for me..........................

The day that Vernon Davis himself can run a better route than Jerry Rice, is the day he can say something so asinine. This is a guy who was a former 1st round draft pick, but has had an average-at-best NFL career . And you want a female to run a better route than Mr. Jesus In Cleats himself, in Jerry Rice. Well, 99% of the guys in the league already can't run Jerry Rice-type routes, yourself included.

As a female, I'm extremely proud of Ms. Robinson and her accomplishment. But at the same time, I do wonder how she will be able to handle the adversity as well as the high levels of testosterone, which she will have to deal with on a regular basis. While I'm not exactly sure how this will turn out, I support her and the school's decision 100% and hopes she proves the critics wrong.

Vernon Davis has a right to his opinion, and I'm not even mad about his reservations, especially since I have some myself. But it's all about delivery. His tweets came off to be insensitive and chauvinist at times. Dude needs a huge timeout in the STFU chair, at least until his NFL career can become relevant to anyone outside the Bay area.

Vernon Davis, Sitcho irrelevant-azz Down!

It's time! Yes, there are so many people that need to sit their azz down, and it's time to call them out. I'm so sick of man-divas and I'm calling you out today!

Michael Crabtree

After months of holding out, complaining and looking to be paid higher than the 10th overall pick, Crabtree finally decides to sign with the 49ers. Excuse me if I could care less. Sounds to me like a perfect case of "They're gonna need me more than I need them" gone wrong. You see, Crabtree probably assumed that the 49ers really needed them and that they weren't gonna be a decent squad (if Shaun Hill was your QB, I'd assume you would have thought the same). But the 49ers are 3-1 and are one play away from being 4-0. Shaun Hill is playing well and they look just fine without his services, please and thank you.

So now the pressure is on. Crabtree doesn't have a contract and he's missing out on doing what he loves to do, which is play football. And because the 49ers are playing well, they don't need to hound him about signing a contract. So he and his agent buckle down and get a deal done.

Now Crabtree has missed all offseason activities and training camp all in the name of greed. At blog time (similar to press time, LOL) , the contract details weren't released, but I'm guessing not much was changed from the initial contract offered to him.

Crabtree is a diva who had a serious reality check. I hope he plays well in the NFL, because if not this dude can easily be the laughing stock of the league if he doesn't produce on the field. I hope Mike Singletary makes him pay for every day he's missed so far. Gotta love the guy, NOT! Go sitcho spoiled azz down!

Tom Brady
Photobucket
During the Ravens-Pats game on Sunday, Ravens TB Terrell Suggs fell down and barely brushed the leg of Tom Brady. So what does Brady do??? Point to the ref and lobby for a flag.

Now, this is when it gets ugly. Brady starts clapping, pointing and borderline taunting Suggs for getting the penalty. It was truly classless on his part. I've been told a million times, don't be mad at Brady, be mad at the refs for listening to Brady, he's just doing what most would. Bull Hockey! Cause I don't remember Peyton Manning looking for flags for such foolishness. I also don't remember Manning making Suzy Kolber run him down and do an interview while out of breath.

This whole "roughing the Brady" penalty could backfire on the league. Defenses will start to actually try and harm these QBs if they know they are gonna be flagged/fined for it. They'll make the personal foul official, and start to purposely try and take these players out of it becomes too ticky tacky if they don't step in and make some changes.

On Sunday, Rodney Harrison went on Football Night In America and told Brady to "take off the skirt and put on some slacks". While Harrison claims that he was speaking in jest, I think he couldn't have said it better. Brady may as well put on his wife's 4 inch heels and change his last name to Mr. Bundchen. Brady sitcho wussy azz down!

Memo to the players of the NFL: Being a diva is a female trait. If being is diva is what you are about, then you can borrow my earrings, makeup and nail polish. We can even go shopping for shoes if you like. But don't play in the NFL. I prefer to watch men play. Go sitchoazz down!

T.O. + Buffalo= OH NO!!!!

0

Category: , , , , , , ,

The big NFL news over the weekend was none other than- Terrell Owens AKA T.O......AGAIN! On Saturday, Owens signed a 1 year contract with the Buffalo Bills, for $6.5 million.

Buffalo? Really?! Bills fans better get their popcorn ready, add salt and butter to taste.
Photobucket

This signing was one that I did not see coming, and I'm sure most would agree. Not that Owens was signed so fast, but the Bills was probably one of the last teams I expected him to sign to. That being said, based on the fact that it's a one year deal, this may not be a bad fit for either team.

I said "oh no" in my title of the blog, but that doesn't have to mean a bad thing. T.O. has a tendency to bring out the good, the bad and the ugly of each team. It all depends how much of the bad and ugly a team wants to deal with, in order to get the good.

So does this relationship work??? Let's review the good, the bad and the ugly of this recent signing.

The Good- T.O. is an extremely hard worker when it comes to football. His presence automatically makes his team better, because defenders have to game plan for him. In Buffalo, they also have a pretty good WR in Lee Evans. This makes Buffalo already a better team than last year, because they have a massive weapon of destruction....on the field that is.

The Bills are in a division that is up-and-coming to be a competitive one for some time. The Jets just hired for Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan as head coach and in the process, by stacking up their defense. The Dolphins did a complete 180, going from a 1-15 team in 2007 to a playoff contender in 2008. And the Pats..... are the Pats. They will be in the hunt every year, as long as Belichick is the coach. So where did that leave the Bills??? They started off HOT last year, going 5-1 before collapsing and finishing 7-9 and last in the AFC East.

The signing also would bring in more money by adding more fans in the stands, especially when the team plays in Toronto this upcoming season. Fans want to see the controversial player, whether they love him or hate him

I can see how this works out for all parties involved. The one year deal means T.O. will be on his best behavior.
Photobucket

The Bad- The last time I checked, the Bills had Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB. Neither are top tier at their position. Edwards wasn't the same once he suffered a concussion during last season. And Fitzpatrick did an okay job replacing Carson Palmer in Cincy, but he's a QB that runs under pressure. (sidenote: JP Losman is no longer with the Bills. He was on Kyle Boller status to me anyway. Waste of a 1st round pick). That brews trouble in T.O.'s World.

You see, T.O. loves the ball, like most WRs do. If Edwards and Fitzpatrick continue to struggle, expect T.O. to have B.O.
Photobucket

Excuse me, wrong saying... I mean, expect T.O. to be PO'd... as in, pissed off. We all have seen this before. Edwards is still a young QB, and having someone constantly in your ear asking for the ball could lead to bad things. Throwing balls in double and triple coverage, making poor decisions on the field, just to name a couple. This could possibly have a negative affect on the 3rd year QB's growth. Hopefully, Edwards won't have this issue. But if he does..... it'll be a long season

The Ugly- Man, where do I begin???? In San Francisco, he basically called QB Jeff Garcia gay.
Photobucket

In Philly, he turned on QB Donovan McNabb and got into a physical altercation with former Eagle Hugh Douglas.
Rick James Pictures, Images and Photos

In Dallas he disregarded Jason Garrett's game plan, accused Tony Romo of scheming plays behind his back, and almost got into a fight with TE Jason Witten, which eventually led to his departure
Photobucket

T.O. is clearly not a legal liability. But in the past, he has become a team liability. There are a good amount of folks that defend him. But his track record speaks for itself. Buffalo is his 4th team. His numbers say future hall-of-famer, but his team hopping says trouble maker. Most teams believes he cares about no one but himself and his numbers. Add that with the fact that, given his great ability to play WR he still hasn't won a Super Bowl, GMs tend to pass him over.

T.O. is 35 years old, he can still play at a high level. Although he was ranked in the Top 5 for dropped passes, he also averaged 10 TD's in each of his 3 seasons with Dallas. He has least 2 to 3 years left in the tank to play. It's quite possible that T.O. plays on yet another team next year, since he only received a 1 year deal with the Bills. So I expect him to get one more contract, possibly a 2 year deal, before he hangs up his cleats for good.

This may work out for everyone involved. T.O. gets to audition for real playoff contenders with this upcoming season, while the Bills could drastically get better on offense (they ranked 25th in overall offense last season). And in the meantime, they can make sweet, beautiful TD's together.

T.O. is a Bill, but he's still T.O.

Only time will tell............
