I reaaaaallllly wanted to get a WR in the first 2 rounds in yesterday's draft. Either that, or get WR Anquan Boldin in a trade. Neither happened. And while the Ravens didn't get a "sexy" pick, they did get a very good one.
OT Michael Oher, from Ole Miss. Oher was projected to be a Top 15 pick but slide in the 20's. The Ravens traded with the New England Patriots to move up 3 spots to get Oher, mainly because Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome felt like he would be gone by the time they were on the clock.
Oher's story is remarkable. If you haven't heard it, please take the time to look at his story. Oher has overcome great obstacles to get to how far he has come today. I'm a sucker for stories like this. I cried my eyes out after reading the story. His story is so compelling that it's been a NY Times Bestseller called "The Blind Side" The book will turn into a movie, in which Sandra Bullock will portray Oher's adopted mother, Leigh Anne Tuohy.

It's no secret the Ravens need a WR since, like, yesterday. But It's also a great pick because now it solidifies the offensive line, one of the youngest in the league (minus free agent C Matt Birk), and helps protect second year QB Joe Flacco. With a stellar O Line, this allows the TEs to play a more profound role in the passing game. We play the likes of James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley twice a season. We need this guy in our corner.
I believe in the Wizard of Oz. I know he'll come through with a receiver. But right now, I have no doubt in my mind Michael Oher will do exceptionally well. He's had every excuse not to succeed in life... yet he's a first round pick with the Baltimore Ravens. You can't write scripts like this.
