Broncos WR Found Dead, Possible Suicide

0

Category: , , ,

Kenny McKinley
Denver Broncos WR Kenny McKinley was found dead, yesterday afternoon, by a female friend who found him after taking his child with her to run errands. Police believe the McKinley suffered from a self inflicted gunshot wound, thus ending his own life.

The irony of such a tragic event, is McKinley passed away the same day that Broncos CB Champs Bailey, former Broncos S John Lynch and other players attended a fundraiser that honored former CB Darrent Williams, who was killed New Years Day, back in 2007.

In addition to the deaths of McKinley and Williams, the Broncos have also dealt with the death of RB Damien Nash, who collapsed and died at a charity basketball game back in April, 2007... Three months after the Williams murder.

Prayers go to the family of McKinley as well as the Broncos organization. Dealing with suicide is never easy, especially when you think there is something you may have done to save someone's life. And for the players who've been there to see all 3 tragedies, this can't be easy for them to deal with.

missed kick

Never in a million years did I think I would be saying this... the Ravens FINALLY get an offense and now their defense wants to tank???? With Ray Lewis and Ed Reed on the roster??? Something is horribly wrong with this picture. This team was finally supposed to be complete, and now the once proud defense is inept.. Ravens fans can't win for nothing. The bye week is coming and they better fix it if they want to even sniff the playoffs, or else.

-The Ravens-Vikings games was one of the most exciting and heartbreaking games I've yet to witness. More than the 2006 playoff loss to Indy (I'm JUST getting over that one). The Ravens fought so hard, coming from a 17 point deficit, and still came up short. Great game to watch if you have no interest or if you are a Vikings fan. But for a Ravens fan.. that one hurt bad.

*extra point* I'm gonna windmill Steve Hauschka when I see him :)

- The Saints are peaking... and looking more and more like the NFC representative for the Super Bowl, as I predicted. They beat the breaks off a great Giants team that has beat the breaks off of opponents themselves. Will they be in Miami come February, or are they peaking too soon??? Hmmmmmm

- G-Men... you'll bounce back. You're too good a team not to.

- Once again, the Redskins let a winless team get a win, as we all expected. I actually feel sorry for Redskins fans... no, this isn't a misprint. I do. I would be beyond fed up with mediocrity on and off the field. Dan Snyder needs to bring in a consultant to show him how to run an NFL franchise.. and I don't mean to the ground, either. It's pathetic and although I'm not a fan of the team, I am a fan of football. And even I am disgusted. This pic says it all:

- There really needs to be a "running up the score" rule. Explain to me why the Pats are up 45-0 at the half, yet Tom Brady trots right back onto the field at the beginning of the 3rd qtr??!! Is Belicheck serious?! What if Tennessee started to take shots at Brady and not care about the consequences??? Stupid, at best.

-There is a reason why Titans head coach Jeff Fisher isn't starting Vince Young. Even with Kerry Collins struggling at QB, Fisher continues to put him in. Word is, that Fisher deems Young as a quitter, especially after the shenanigans that happened at the beginning of the 2008 season. If that's true, then I totally respect Fisher's decision. I'd rather go down with the guys that go to battle with me than the ones that will wave the white flag, any day.

- Unless you are a fan of the Steelers, Browns, Lions, Packers, Rams, Jaguars, Bucs or Panthers, no one else cared about your game. Hey, I'm just saying........

- I got fussed at because I don't talk about the Eagles enough on my blog. Well, here it is: You let the RAIDERS beat you!!!! Better yet, you let JaMarcus Russell look like an NFL quarterback. Shame on you, Philly.. shame on you.

*extra point* Why is the pigeon going down the field with the Raiders the highlight of the game??? No seriously...........

-The Bills-Jets game was one of the hardest games for me to watch. I don't think I ever wanted to pull my eyelashes out, EVER. But I wanted to when CBS left the NE Massacre and went to this game. Remember that song you learned in school, "The Song That Doesn't End"... that game reminded me of that song... it just wouldn't stop.

- Am I the only one that thought Jay Cutler was gonna cry in the locker room at the end of the Bears- Falcons game??

- All the way around, the Denver Broncos are as complete of a team as any.
They have an offense that moves the chains, a defense that is fearless and a special teams that is nothing short of awesome. Is Eddie Royal the 2009 Josh Cribbs/Donte Hall/Devin Hester of special teams??? We will find out as the season goes on.

- I think Orton should do a collabo song with Shaq. The title??

Last night's Jets-Dolphin game was great, from start to finish. It reminded me so much of the 2000 game Monday Night Game, in which the Jets came back to beat the Dolphins in OT. While the game didn't play out the same way, it was great nonetheless. From Braylon Edwards making a spectacular debut to QB Chad Henne helping his team win the game, 31-27, with 6 seconds left.

Photobucket

The Monday Night Football crew was in love Jets QB Mark Sanchez. So much, to the fact that they pretty much ignored Henne and his heroics. Let's take a look at the two QB's numbers from last night:

Sanchez: 12/24 172 yards 1 TD 0 INT 87.5 QB rating

Henne: 20/26 241 yards 2 TDs 0 INTs 130.4 QB rating

It wasn't until the end of the night that Henne was shown some love. I know that New York teams are on a roll right now (Giants are 5-0 and the Yankees are in the ALCS), but ESPN and other media outlets need to do a better job at showing love to those that deserve it. Not saying Sanchez didn't, because he played well. But last night, Henne was better

-Even though my Ravens lost, I can't be mad at the fact that the Bengals played well, especially their defense. With the passing of Mike Zimmer's wife, I really felt the team played extra hard for him.
Photobucket
I've always had a soft spot for the Bengals, mainly because of Marvin Lewis and Chad Ocho Cinco. Congrats on sole place of the AFC North........ for now

*extra point* I found this on KSK... and I can't stop watching it. Regardless of your opinion on the hit, how can you NOT love football?! This made my adrenaline rise to the max!
Photobucket

-The Colts, Giants and Vikings scare me

-The Bucs, Raiders and Rams do not

-The Redskins play yet another winless team this Sunday, when they play the Kansas City Chiefs. Since they've been so nice to give Detroit and Carolina their first win, will Redskins be so nice against a Chiefs team that actually puts up a fight???? We'll find out Sunday.

-I think I'm ready to start giving Denver the props they deserve. No one should go 5-0 without getting respect, especially with the hectic offseason the Broncos had. Josh McDaniel was so fired up at the end of his game, he had ME fired up and I'm not a Broncos fan. Congrats Denver!
Photobucket

-I'm not a big Vince Young fan... quite frankly I always though he was slightly overrated. But I think it's time for his 2nd chance. The Titans stink and Kerry Collins is starting to look his age

-Did anyone see Brandon Marshall on Football Night in America???? If there was ever a "Bama Of The Week" candidate, he is definitely it!

-Damn Buffalo.... you lost to the lowly Browns in an awful 6-3 defeat. Not even T.O. can help you with this madness. Looks like paper bag time has officially made it's way to Buffalo

Either that, or Fire Dick Jauron signs........

Brandon Marshall, Go Sit Down!

Category: , , , , ,

This week's sitcho azz down award goes to... Broncos WR Brandon Marshall.

Photobucket

Marshall was reported leaving the Broncos facility last week carrying boxes, not long after a meeting with owner Pat Bowlen.

Now, according to ESPN, the news is out that Marshall is requesting a trade from the Broncos.

Wow!

I think Brandon Marshall is a very good athlete. But as of right now, I think he's the last person to try and pull rank trade requests for the following reasons:

First, his medical condition. Marshall had hip surgery in March and has yet to practice. Now I'm sure that 85% or more of this trade has to do with money (his contract expires after next season). But right now, you don't really have the leverage.

Second, his off-the-field issues. By now, a lot of folks have seen your Outside The Lines episode.
Photobucket
You've been in alleged domestic abuse situations with at least two different women, you've been into bar brawls and fist fights and oh, by-the-way, you lied about a hand injury that severed an artery. If you are trying to pull a Cutler, please don't. Cutler was the QB of the team, and a good one. Not denying your talent, but I would think QB> WR on the NFL Important Chart.

This is another blow the Denver Broncos would love to avoid. Josh McDaniels is having probably one of the worst off seasons a rookie head coach can have. If I were a Broncos fan and you told me that Cutler was traded, Kyle Orton is my QB and Marshall will soon follow his former QB's footsteps, I'd jump off of a Rocky Mountain. I think Eddie Royal is going to be a great talent... but geesh your bread and butter being gone would make it a long season.

If I could tell Marshall one thing, it would be this:

Stay out of trouble and off of the Surgeon's table and you will either get that big contract or that trade you've asked for. Players that hold up their end of the bargain usually get want they want. Being a jerk and a possible medical liability usually doesn't get the same result.

Brandon Marshall, go sit down!!!!

Jay Cutler- Rightfully Upset Or A Cry Baby???

By now, I'm sure most of you are aware of the Jay Cutler situation in Denver. If you don't then let me give you a recap.

Cutler is upset because he had learned during the early ages of free agency that he was brought up in a possible trade with New England for QB Matt Cassel. While the trade didn't happen, the situation between new head coach Josh McDaniels and Cutler have gotten worse in every attempt to reconcile the situation.

Some folks think he is rightfully upset. Other folks thinks he's a big whiny brat. Which do you think best suits his handling of this. A look at both angles.

Why He Has Reason To Be Upset-

The 11th pick of the 2006 NFL Draft was drafted to be the future QB of the Denver Broncos. Mike Shanahan confirmed this when he replaced QB Jake Plummer with Cutler during the '06, when they still had a chance to make the playoffs. He had every reason to believe that his time to reign had started. Cutler's been pretty productive since taking over as the general for the team. He was in the Top 5 category in yards, and in TD passes, while being voted to the 2008 Pro Bowl. With WRs Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal as his weapons, he showed promise that he could possibly be a top quarterback in the league. All of this with a terrible defense that couldn't stop my son's Pop Warner's team if they tried.

Cutler felt betrayed by the rumors of the possible trade, and understandably so. If you are brought in to be the face of a franchise, only to learn that you are no longer looked at as such, then I think most people would react the same way that Cutler has. He has gone as far as accusing McDaniels of antagonizing him and basically admitting to intentions of bringing in Cassel because of their previous relationship. If this is true, then I can definitely understand the notion of Cutler not feeling wanted.

Shoot, we are in a recession... I guess NFL players are in the same boat........
Photobucket

Yeah right!! But folks want job security, and when you don't have it, you tend to panic. I can't say his feelings aren't justified. Furthermore, he's standing up for what he thinks is right. My mama always said if you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything. For that, Cutler gets a Right On! from me.

Why He Sounds Like A Whiny Brat-

Although there was speculation, he ultimately wasn't traded. That should hold rank for something. It came down to being just talk, nothing more. While some people have criticized McDaniels for the handling of this situation, no report has confirmed that he initiated any trade talks. He allegedly was approached about a trade and he listened. There is no crime in that.

While I can understand Cutler's disappointment in finding this out, he's handled this in the utmost unprofessional way possible. When McDaniels made the attempt to set up a meeting do discuss what happened, it went from bad to worse. Instead of discussing their sides of the story and finding some mutual ground, Cutler had a temper tantrum and and has since put his house on the Denver market and requested a trade from Denver. Just curious, am I the only one that reads, "wah wah wah" when I read some of his quotes??? cry baby Pictures, Images and Photos

Another report has also come out that Cutler had allegedly asked to be traded once the Broncos fired offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates. While Cutler denies these reports, this is beyond petty to me. If this side of the story deems to be true, then Cutler seemed way too eager to jump ship from the beginning, starting when Shanahan was canned. While he has lost trust in McDaniels and the rest of the organization, one can also say the same for Cutler if this info is accurate. This makes him look very two faced and untrustworthy.

To make matters worse, Cutler has seemed to take it out on the community. He was invited to a fundraiser at Invesco Field, but was a no show at the event. While he did make a donation to the foundation that raises money for research and treatment for children with cancer, the fact that he allowed his personal business affect his community outreach speaks volumes about how he's handled this. This screams bitchassness to the 10th power to me......
Bitchassness

I always believe that there are 3 sides of every story. One side, the other side and then the truth. Who knows how much of each account is true. Most could agree that both could have handled this situation much better and moved on for the better of the team. Unfortunately, it looks like this may be the end of Cutler in Denver.

Free Agency Overload

2

Category: , , , , , , , , ,

Free agency has been a non stop machine since 12:00 Friday morning

I think I'm in Free Agency Overload. Just when I think I know who's going wear and what team signed who, something happens to make me see different.

A lot of players who made their careers with one team, now have new homes. Brian Dawkins a Bronco? Does even feel right to say that. Fred Taylor a Patriot? Feels wrong and dirty for some reason. Ray Lewis going to....oh wait, Ray Ray didn't get an offer from another team yet (tee hee hee)
Photobucket Photobucket

But trying to keep up with this year's free agency requires a full time job. Shout out to guys like Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen that do nothing but call, text and email to give us, the fans, the latest scoop on their favorite team. Let's review the biggest moves in free agency this weekend, shall we?

Broncos Go Crazy!- Okay, by now we all know that Brian Dawkins is now rocking a horse on his helmet, and no longer an Eagle (from what I hear, Philly fans are LIVID about this).
Photobucket

But in addition to Dawkins, they went on a spending spree and also signed WR Jabar Gaffney (Pats), RB Correll Buckhalter (Eagles), RB JJ Arrington (Cards), WR David Anderson (Texans), S Renaldo Hill(Dolphins), Tom, Dick, Harry, Craig and nem....

Okay seriously. There were more people to the list, but you get my point. The Broncos weren't playing around. They were about business and they plan on contending this season.

In addition to adding all of these new player on the roster, there were trade rumors swirling around, regarding QB Jay Cutler and QB Matt Cassel. Even though it didn't happen, poor wittew baby Cutler was upset with the notion and even stated that the team would go in an uproar if he were traded.
Photobucket

Really?! Do you really think other guys would fight tooth and nail over someone other than themselves. Man please!

Now, with all of these new acquisitions they have, they better be competitive this upcoming season. If they just so happen to stink up the joint again, like last year, I'm gonna be the first one cracking up at this news. Mainly because I really don't like Cutler anyway. I think he's a whiner and a brat- two things I hate the most.

Matt Cassel, Mike Vrabel traded to KC for 2nd round draft pick-
Photobucket Photobucket

Are you kidding me?!?! Seriously, when I read this, I thought this was a rumor. But it turns out to be true. After Belichick put the franchise tag on Cassel, I thought one of two things would happen. Either he would stay with the Pats at least another year, to make sure Brady's knee is okay. Or he would be traded and the Pats would get 2- 1st round picks, as that is the usual trade offer for a tagged player.

But to get 2 players for the price of one draft pick? And it's not even a 1st rounder? Wow!

Who knows if Brady is healthy enough to start on opening day. Hell, who knows if he's ready to give up his schmoozing sessions, with him and Gisele being joined at the hip nowadays.
Photobucket

But if Belchick likes it, then I love it. It doesn't hurt that Cassel's $14+ million cap space is lifted either

Giants beef up defense, signing Canty and Bernard- Okay, am I the only one surprised by these signings? The last time I checked, the Giants were the 5th ranked defense in 2008, and that's without Osi, who was placed on IR last year. So why are they stacking up so much on defense?

Word has it, their #1 receiver, Plaxico Burress, is acting as if he isn't a member of the team, sending out notions that he wants to be traded. Even if he didn't want to be traded, he has a gun charge held over his head. Who knows if he'll be in jail by the time the season starts anyway.
Photobucket

Once Burress was no longer on the field, the Giants WRs looked average at best.

I know the Giants were a Top 10 offense. But let's be real... it was because they had the #1 rushing offense in the league. That will make your overall yardage go waaaayyy up. Their passing game averaged 198 yards per game.

My point? Defense was never the problem. Giants, get a WR and get it NOW. TJ Whoseyourmama is still out there. Give him a call!!!

OT- My prayers are going out to the families and friends of NFL players Corey Smith and Marquis Cooper, along with the two other guys missing. The 4 young men went on a fishing trip on Saturday and has been missing ever since. I'm praying for a miracle.
