Terrell Suggs Talks Football, Family And.... FIANCEE'??

Terrell Suggs team Sizzle,Terrell Suggs team Sizzle

Ravens LB Terrell Suggs had a very good interview with Baltimore Ravens.com about his career in Baltimore, his contract situation last year and his family. It was a very good read but I must admit, I learned some things in his interview.

On Football Expectations:

Suggs says he doesn't feel like he has to prove himself to anyone and that he has his mind set on one goal. "Dallas, Texas. Lombardi. I've had every individual award you can name, but they only last for the moment. Nobody will ever forget a Super Bowl champion."

This is the type of talk any fan wants to hear from their star player. I'm so glad to hear Suggs has a bigger plan beyond individual accolades. As much as I want my squad to get to Dallas in February, Suggs wants it a little bit more. And he should.

On his $62.5 million dollar deal, making him the highest paid player at his position:

"It wasn't like I was demanding the Ravens, or any team for that fact, to sign me to a big deal. I didn't want to be the highest-paid anything. I just wanted what was fair and that was for the front office to determine."

Fair is fair, and I believe Suggs when he says this. While money is the motive for a lot of people, Suggs was just looking for a contract that treated him fairly.

On the media and fans turning on him, possibly because of his new contract:

"I kind of really found out who was in my corner and who wasn't. Last season was my worst season, but I was going to have that season regardless of whether I had a new deal or not for the simple fact that I was coming off a season that I got hurt and there were a lot of changes."

Sorry Sizzle. That's how it goes, no matter what city you're in. People see $ being thrown your way and lackluster results that follow, and instantly become critical. That's what they will do. But once you're back to your old form, they'll be back again. Trust me.

On life outside of football:

"I'm not just a football player. It's my sport. It's what I chose as an occupation. I'm also a father, someone's fiancé, someone's brother, someone's son. I wear a lot of hats.

"When you're with the family you're stress-free. Once I got away from the negative energy, that's when everything started to come together and I became Terrell again. I became my old self. I definitely feel happier."

WHOA KIMOSABE! I understood everything he said. But I PAUSED when I read the fiance' comment. Could he be possibly engaged to Candace Williams, the girlfriend that tried to sue Suggs for $70 million not long ago???? One has to think so, since he was seen with her recently at the ESPYs along with their 2 children.

If he likes it, I love it. I'm not passing judgment, sometimes things happen. Hopefully they moved on from the ugly events that happened last year. I wish nothing but the best for Suggs, he's a good guy.

Suggs' Girlfriend Drops $70 Mil Lawsuit

Ravens LB Terrell Suggs has a LOT to be thankful for... about $70 million reasons. Attorneys for Suggs says his girlfriend, Candace Williams (shown above), has withdrawn the lawsuit against the Ravens LB. The couple was seen hugging outside of the courtroom and are looking to reconcile.

Remember, Williams stated that Suggs poured bleacher all over her and her child, as well as broke her nose. I have to wonder if she had much of a case to begin with and they are working it out. Whatever the circumstance, they seem to be back together.

This is a picture posted in my earlier post, Suggs and Williams during happier times.

Hopefully he can get past this and move on, especially for their children (they have 2). Funny how the dismissal flew under the radar but everyone was all over the restraining order and lawsuit story when it first broke a while back. Only in America............

Suggs Being Sued For $70 Million By Accuser

Time waits for no man. Looks like that also applies when filing civil lawsuits.

The Baltimore Sun.com is reporting that Terrell Suggs' is being sued for $70 million by his accuser, Candace Williams, just days after filing a restraining order against the Ravens starting linebacker. She is seeking $20 million in compensatory damages and $50 million in punitive damages. and has also filed for sole custody of their 2 small children.

On Sunday, I blogged about Williams filing a restraining order against Suggs from the same person. Since then, shocking details have come out regarding the accounts to why Williams decided to file the restraining order.

In a statement, Williams alleges that on Nov. 3, Suggs, 27, struck her in the face -- breaking her nose -- and threatened to kill her. She also claims that on Nov. 29, the alleged incident for which she sought a restraining order, Suggs threatened to drown her with bleach "and did in fact pour chemical bleach on [her] entire body as she was forced to stay on the ground."

Williams also states the also stated that the fight started over game tickets.

Suggs has not been criminally charged for the allegations at this time, and police have no record of any emergency calls to their home.

Today, the following tweets were written by @Ravensinsider, who was in Owings Mills this afternoon:

Terrell Suggs on his lawsuit, restraining order: "I really have nothing to hide. As bad as I want to talk about it right now, I just can't."

More Suggs: "When I'm able to do it, you guys can ask a million and one questions about it. Right now, to be safe, I can't speak about it."

More Suggs: "It's one of those things you have to deal with. I'm still coming to work. I'm still getting ready for Sunday.

This story is definitely interesting to follow. If Suggs is guilty of these things, then not only should a civil case be filed, but a criminal case as well. However, if the accuser is fabricating the story, then she looks like the ultimate liar and gold digger, a $70 million dollar one, to be exact. I pray for their two small children, who are caught in the middle of this.

Restraining Order Filed Against Ravens' Suggs

Category: , , , ,

A court restraining order was filed against Ravens LB Terrell Suggs. According to the MD court database, it was cited as a domestic violence dispute.

Suggs told the Baltimore Sun,

"I won't have anything to say. It's a family matter, and family matters should be kept personal. But all you guys [in the media] know me and my character, and, hopefully, at the end of the day that stands for something."

The woman identified as Candace Williams, filed the complaint on Friday in a Baltimore district court. It is reported that Williams isn't his current girlfriend. Suggs was a guest correspondent on the ESPN show, "Rome Is Burning", and acknowledged that he was engaged, but it is unclear whether Williams was his fiancee'.

The only other incident Suggs has been involved in was a 2003 brawl in Phoenix, AZ, in which he was charged for aggravated assault. He was acquitted 2 years later.

This will be an interesting story to watch, as the Ravens are looking to make a playoff run down the stretch. While Suggs has been out with a knee injury, he has said he expects to be back on the field before the season ends. If Suggs has charges filed against him, there may be a suspension handed down by the commissioner, either this season or the beginning of the next.

Stay tuned..........

Jonathon Vilma Speaks Out On Quinn's Hit To Suggs

1

Category: , , , , ,

Saints LB Jonathon Vilma had a lot to say regarding Quinn's hit to Ravens LB Terrell Suggs on Monday night. Before Suggs took a shot from Quinn, Vilma experienced his own low blow from Mark Sanchez in Week 4. He was upset about Quinn's shot on Suggs and sounded off about it on his PlayMaker Mobile page last night:

"What bothers me about this play is, for one, Brady Quinn is not a rookie—he's a third year guy. Two, he knows right and wrong, he knows fair and foul play. And three, as much emphasis as there is put on protecting quarterbacks, quarterbacks need to understand they need to do the same thing. There is a reason defensive players can't go low on quarterbacks. Look at Tom Brady. Look what happened to him. So why would you reciprocate and do the same thing if you're the QB? That's what really bothers me.

"It's not like Mark Sanchez where it was his fourth game starting and he was a little bewildered and he was just out there. Brady Quinn has been around and he understands right from wrong. He understands fair and foul play. That bothers me. Yeah, Brady Quinn gets fined but that fine isn't going to help the Ravens, it's not gonna help Terrell Suggs get back any quicker, and now they've got to play Peyton Manning this weekend.

"Not having Suggs impacts them in so many different ways. Now do they not only miss one of their best pass rushers but they miss one of their best players on defense, period. The guy can stop the run and the pass and you need that against a guy like Peyton Manning, where everyone says "don't blitz Peyton," but you need someone to rush the passer and that was their guy. That's what's especially frustrating. To see that happen, the way it happened, being on the defensive side it really bothers. We have to be really conscious about where and how and how hard we hit a quarterback, and now QBs are just going after defensive players because they're afraid of being blocked, they're afraid of being hit, and that's just not right."

I feel Vilma on this 100%. I've looked at this hit over and over again and it was unnecessary and dirty. While there are tons of rules on protection against QBs, defenders don't have the same treatment. Prime example, Quinn was only fined $10,000 for his hit on Suggs. While Ray Lewis was fined $25,000 for hitting unnecessary roughness against Chad Ochocinco, who immediately got up and was unharmed during the play. Quinn has apologized, but I hope he's not looking for an acceptance anytime soon, as I doubt Suggs is eager to give him a pass.

Something needs to be done about this. What are your thoughts regarding this incident?? In case you haven't seen it:

Hey there fam. I've been hiding some news from you, but now it's time I reveal what I've been up to. I just debuted my baby last week, and she's beautiful!!
Photobucket

Okay, I didn't have a REAL baby... But I have a new website that I treat like a brand new baby. Myself and Pigskin Loving Lady came up with this website, Gridiron Gals, to showcase women who love football, and who actually KNOW what they are talking about. We came up with the idea because we knew there were so many women who loved football as much as we do, and wanted to express football related thoughts and analysis on a website. So we put our brains together and our baby, Gridiron Gals, was born.

We have over a dozen female bloggers, which is something we're extremely proud of, for starting a brand new website. And it makes it better for the guys that we're pretty cute too! Each female blogs about their favorite team. We have teams such as the Cowboys, Steelers, Giants and Bills cover, just to name a few. Of course, the NFL Chick is blogging about one of the best organizations in the NFL, the Baltimore Ravens *flex muscles*.

Consider Suggs A "Signed" Man!!!!!

If the Ravens ever needed good news, they have some today.

ESPN's John Clayton is reporting that Suggs and the Ravens have agreed to a contract extension, worth $63 million over six years. According to the site, Suggs' signing bonus and option bonus will total $33.1 million in 2009 and 2010. The contract makes Suggs one the highest paid LB in the NFL

This is the silver lining in a dark cloud that has been over the Ravens the past couple of weeks. With the sudden loss of Steve McNair and the abrupt retirement of Derrick Mason, the Ravens finally got some good news in signing Suggs long term. He was franchised for a second consecutive year and had until 4pm today to sign a long term deal.

This deal now frees up some cap space much needed to sign a WR, either through free agency or via trade.

Thank you for staying Suggs. The Ravens defense wouldn't have been the same without you!
